A young man kept a teenage girl prisoner for six days and forced her to have sex with him in exchange for her freedom, police said.

Zackary Dourousseau, 25, was arrested after the 17-year-old girl escaped and raised the alarm last Thursday in Big Bear Lake, California.

Police alleged Dourousseau picked up the girl around 8pm March 1 and drove her to his home on Los Angeles Avenue in Sugarloaf.

There, he asked her to have sex with him, and when she refused he allegedly locked her inside the house and wouldn't let her leave.

'During the six days, the victim was provided with little food and water. Dourousseau would not let the victim leave and made her consume large amounts of alcohol,' police said.

'Dourousseau forced the victim to have sex with him in exchange for her freedom.'

But she was not released and instead forced to drive with him to work at Jack in the Box on Village Road in Big Bear, and locked in the car during his shifts.

On March 7, she escaped from the car and ran to another business, The Nut House, and staff called deputies at the Big Bear Lake Sheriff's Station.

It's unclear how the victim escaped from the vehicle.

Dourousseau's neighbor Mike Stilkey said he saw the girl enter the house looking worse for wear.

'She looked worn out. She was walking with her head down, her hair was a mess, dirty, her clothes were hanging on her,' he told ABC.

Police arrested Dourousseau that day and he was charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, and statutory rape at West Valley Detention Center.

Prison records show he was released on $30,000 bail on Wednesday and will face San Bernardino Superior Court again next Monday.

He faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted.

Authorities have not said if Dourousseau knew the victim before the alleged incident.
