The View's Alyssa Farah Griffin has suggested that Hollywood actress Sharon Stone 'needlessly shamed' her former co-star Billy Baldwin when she claimed she was pressured to have sex with him to improve his performance while they were filming the 1993 movie Sliver.

Alyssa, 34, and the rest of the panel were discussing Billy's furious response, in which he alleged that Sharon was 'hurt he shunned her advances' over 30 years ago, and moderator Whoopi Goldberg was quick to jump to his defense.

Whoopi, 68, suggested that maybe 'he's tired of people taking pot shots at him', which her co-host Sunny Hostin agreed with and even questioned why Sharon, 66, was dragging something up that happened 'a long time ago'.

Sara Haines also claimed that the Basic Instinct actress had gone 'out of her way' to stress 'how bad [Billy] was as an actor' during her appearance on Louis Theroux's podcast, but also described 61-year-old Billy's response on X on March 12 as 'snarky and reactive'.

After a snippet from Sharon's podcast chat played out, where she divulged it was producer Robert Evans who urged her to have sex with Billy to improve their on-screen chemistry, Whoopi remarked: 'I don't know why this is happening now,' as Alyssa chimed in: 'Shade!' and Joy Behar added: 'Major!'

'They worked together 30 years ago,' Whoopi then said, as Joy, 81, responded: 'And they're still at it! The whole thing doesn't make sense. So, the guy says if you sleep with Billy Baldwin, it'll make him a better actor.

'By that logic, if you're in The Godfather, you have to behead a horse in order to play a mobster. It doesn't make sense, it's called acting,' the comedian joked.

Alyssa then said: 'Listen, Sharon Stone definitely probably needlessly shamed Billy Baldwin there but for him to react with all the benefit of what we know from Me Too and dynamics with power, like having a boss who is encouraging you to sleep with your co-star when you don't want to...

'If I were his PR team I would have said, "Either don't say a word or [say] I'm sorry Sharon went through that,"' the former White House aide added.

Sara, 46, was keen to share her thoughts and said: 'So at first I was like, "what kind of response is that?" because it's very snarky and reactive, but she literally goes out of her way in the interview, there are like six references to say how bad he was as an actor and I was like you could have made your point with maybe just like one!'

Appearing to defend Billy as well, Whoopi announced: 'Why bring it up anyway? And the other thing is, maybe he's... he's getting hit from women left and right. Remember he talked about his wife, so maybe he's just tired of people taking pot shots at him.'

Sunny, 55, agreed and said: 'I think so because he really lashed out, and I do understand, and this movie, by the way, was in 1993, that's like a long time ago...' as Joy informed her: 'Sunny, people crave relevancy and that threat that he made, "I'm gonna bring out all this dirt about you"... because I haven't been in the public eye for a while.'

Sara chimed in again: 'She already made that point. She said, "although it bombed in the theaters, it made this much money", so it feels like she still needs to let the project go,' as Alyssa joked: 'They're scarred by it!'

Joy then made a comical dig toward Oscar winner Whoopi and said: 'Ego problems with actors, what a concept!' as Whoopi replied sarcastically: 'I don't know what you mean!'

Fans were shocked when Billy responded to Sharon's comments and tweeted: 'Not sure why Sharon Stone keep talking about me all these years later? Does she still have a crush on me or is she still hurt after all these years because I shunned her advances?

'Did she say to her gal pal Janice Dickinson the day after I screen tested and ran into them on our MGM Grand flight back to New York… "I'm gonna make him fall so hard for me, it's gonna make his head spin." ???

'I have so much dirt on her it would make her head spin but I've kept quiet.'

Father-of-three Billy continued: 'The story of the meeting I had with Bob Evans imploring him allow me to choreograph the final sex scene in the photo below so I wouldn't have to kiss Sharon is absolute legend.

'Wonder if I should write a book and tell the many, many disturbing, kinky and unprofessional tales about Sharon? That might be fun.'
