Popular air fryer brand sold at Best Buy is recalled over burning, fire and 'laceration' risks - is YOURS affected?

Air fryers sold by Best Buy are being recalled over fears they will cause a fire or burn users - and in some cases cut people when glass shatters.

The recall affects six models made in China by Insignia - three normal air fryers, one model with dual baskets and two air fryer ovens.

The four air fryers can overheat, causing the handles to melt or break. The overheating can also pose fire and burn hazards, officials said.

The two air fryer ovens can also overheat - and when they do the glass on the door can shatter. This poses 'fire, burn and laceration hazards' - the latter meaning it could the glass could cut people as it shatters.

Around 187,400 of the Insignia units are being recalled in the US, and another 99,900 in Canada. Scroll right down for model numbers and photos of each model.

Owners of air fryers made by Ninja, the best-selling brands in the US, will be relieved it is not one of theirs. 

Owners should immediately stop using the recalled Insignia air fryers.

They can visit this link for instructions on how to submit photos of their device, the model number, purchase receipt, and also how to destroy it.

Customers can get a refund in the form of check or Best Buy store credit. 

They get the amount on their receipt if they still have it, or if not the average sales price over the past three years.

Best Buy has received 24 reports of overheating, melting or glass shattering.

This includes includes six cases of air fryers catching on fire. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

They were sold Best Buy stores nationwide and online at www.bestbuy.com, www.eBay.com, and third-party sellers from November 2021 through November 2023 for between $32 and $180.

It is not uncommon for air fryers to be recalled. Two million Cosori air fryers were  recalled in February 2023 after their wire connections caused hundreds of them to overheat and catch fire.

Air fryers sold by major retailers like Walmart, Target, and Kohl's were recalled in December last year after three people reported getting burned using them.

The voluntary recall affected two models of air fryer made by Empower Brands, which are sold under the PowerXL name

The brand name INSIGNIA is on the top or front of each unit.

A product rating label on the underside of each unit identifies the brand INSIGNIA and the model number. The model numbers are all below...
