A Chicago-based TikToker has been accused of lying about a negative experience she'd had at the Hubbard Inn.
Julia Reel posted a video on the social media platform in which she accuses the Hubabrd Inn's bouncers of 'manhandling' her and sending her 'flying down the stairs.'
The Hubbard Inn, located on 110 W Hubbard St, withstood much online criticism, including statements of violence, before deciding to release surveillance footage of the alleged incident and tell their side of the story.
They posted the surveillance footage alongside Reel's Tiktok in which she speaks at length about the alleged assault she claim to have endured at the hands of the Hubbard Inn's bouncers.
There was a dramatic contrast between Reel's claims and what the surveillance footage showed.
Chicago-based TikToker Julia Reel claimed that she was grabbed and pushed downstairs at the Hubbard Inn by the establishment's bouncer. The Hubbard Inn's video seemingly proves otherwise
The Hubbard Inn's footage depicts the bouncer walking in front of and alongside Reel and her friend without any sort of physical altercation
According to the Hubbard Inn, Reel's roommate was apologizing for her behavior
'So they are grabbing us immediately,' Reel tells her TikTok followers. 'They don't even give us a chance to walk out on our own.'
The Hubbard Inn's footage shows the bouncer, arms down at his sides, professionally leading Reel and her friend away from the scene.
Under the Hubbard Inn's video, some text appears saying that Reel's roommate was 'apologizing repeatedly for her behavior.'
'I'm immediately grabbed by this man,' Reel continues and pantomimes being pulled by the shoulder. 'And he's grabbing my arm. He's pushing me. He's manhandling me.
'What is going on? What is the issue here? Why are you guys kicking us out? Why are you screaming at us?
'Why are you grabbing me and manhandling me and dragging me?'
The video played footage of Reel and a bouncer walking in a calm and undramatic fashion down a corridor.
The Hubbard Inn zooms in on the surveillance footage, which renders the interaction between Reel and the bouncer more visible.
They appear to be exchanging some words as they walk toward the exit, but in the footage, the bouncer does not grab or manhandle or drag Reel.
Once they reach the staircase, Reel says, 'I'm just pushed down.'
Reel accuses the Hubbard Inn's bouncer of sending her flying down the stairs
However, footage provided by the Hubbard Inn shows the bouncer leading Reel and a friend downstairs with no shoving or pushing
The bouncer then continues to escort the two outside the premises
Finally, the two are seen exiting the Inn with no issue
The Hubbard Inn feels the video vindicates them following Reel's public accusations made on TikTok
'He sends me flying down the staircase', she claims, and made a throwing motion with her hand as a flourish.
She continues: '[I'm] hysterical at this point. I think I start to kind of yell, scream back at him, kind of push back at him.'
'And he takes me a second time,' Reel narrates. 'And shoves me again and sends me flying down the rest of the staircase,' she said and made a pushing motion to illustrate her experience better.
The surveillance footage shows Reel and her friend descending the staircase without a problem.
The two appear unhurried climbing down the stairs, and the bouncer, far from shoving Reel, shines a flashlight to light their way down.
The bouncer then directs Reel and her friend toward the exit.
Toward the end of the Inn's video, text appears that said: 'She was politely escorted off the premises, ensuring a safe exit.'
And: 'Ms. Reel was not thrown from two sets of stairs.'
The video cuts back to Reel, who says: 'It was the craziest experience I've ever been in. It was completely and utterly ridiculous how much it escalated.'
Then the video shows the security footage one last time, and in it, Reel and her friend were seen exiting the Inn with little drama.
Reel did not immediately respond to the DailyMail.com's request for comment.
