Wall Street investor Marty Dolan, who is boldly taking on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the Democratic primary, credits rampant crime like subway shootings as a driving force behind his decision.
The seasoned Wall Street investor and 'moderate Democrat,' slammed the 34-year-old congresswoman's 'radical' policies, emphasizing the crime permeating the streets of what was once hailed as the world's greatest city.
After launching his bid the former banker appeared on Fox News where he held up a copy of the New York Post with the headline 'Hell Ride.'
He said New Yorkers are getting a complete lack of confidence in the street and 'enough is enough' and there is a lot of dissatisfaction in the district.
'This is what you're getting in the subways,' he told Fox News on Friday. 'This is what you're getting in the streets.

'You're getting a complete lack of confidence and comfort in what's supposed to be the best city in the world. So, the standards have just gotten too low, and things have slipped. And enough is enough.'
Dolan slammed AOC's Green New Deal, opposition to Amazon building its second headquarters in Queens and over New York's migrant crisis, saying she's 'putting headlines first and constituents second.'
'There's a lot of dissatisfaction in the district,' he said to Fox. 'A lot of what AOC has done has been very good at the headlines, but not so good in the street.'
'So whether it's the Green New Deal, whether it's the Amazon deal, whether it's the immigrants that are coming in and taking benefits that are intended for constituents, she's really putting, you know, the headlines first and the constituents second,' he added.
Dolan told Fox News he is a moderate Democrat and said the left wing of the Democratic party is too far to the left. He said his main focus will be the quality of life for New Yorkers as the feel of the city has gotten 'too out of control.'
'New Yorkers have seen it all, including scams like the Radicals offer. But we know better that New Yorkers want NYC to be the best city in the best country in the world,' he said on his website.
Dolan is challenging congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez in the Democratic primary for the New York 14th Congressional District seat.
He boasts a career spanning four decades in the global risk insurance sector, serving as a financial adviser, strategist, and investor, according to his campaign website.
He comes from a household of nine siblings and spent his early years in the small village of Irvington, nestled in Westchester.
His father, an immigrant from Argentina, dedicated five decades to a thriving medical practice within the community, according to his campaign website. He obtained an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Dolan's experience as a strategist, investor, and financial advisor has been focused in the global risk insurance sector, particularly in navigating through crises such as the global liability crisis, the aftermath of the WTC attack, Hurricane Katrina, and the global financial crisis.
He has three grown children, two grandchildren, and a network of relatives spread throughout New York.
Dolan launched a long-shot bid to unseat Ocasio-Cortez who represents a district that includes parts of Queens and the Bronx in New York City.
He had initially decided to a challenge against Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) in New York's 16th Congressional District, but opted to switch districts after George Latimer, a New York county executive, entered the race, as reported by Bloomberg.
The 14th District is a safe blue district. Ocasio-Cortez won reelection in 2022 with overwhelming support.
The congresswoman first made headlines nationwide in 2018 after unseating a longtime incumbent in the Democratic primary and at 29-years-old becoming the youngest women ever elected to Congress.
She was reelected in 2020 and 2022, recently 70 percent of the vote in the most recent midterms.
The proud progressive Democrat is a member of the 'squad' and has been a fierce advocate for the Green New Deal, Medicare-for-all and other liberal priorities.
But she has also been known to toe the party line, voting with Democrats on compromise deals reached with more moderate members of the caucus.
She has also thrown her support behind President Biden for reelection touting his legislative accomplishments since taking office.
Her primary challenge comes as New York City has been facing a cost of living crisis as well as an influx in migrants which as put a burden on city resources.
And while crime overall overall in the city in 2023 compared to the prior year, felony assaults and car thefts have remained high.
