Commando units of the Turkish Armed Forces have taken part in a military training exercise to prepare them for operations in Sarikamis where winter weather conditions are severe.
Described as the 'soldiers of the snowy mountains' for their white stormtrooper-like appearance, the servicemen have been preparing for challenging missions in deep snow and freezing-cold conditions.
The training and drill exercises took place on February 28 at the Deep Snow and Severe Cold Combat Training Centre in Sarikamis, Kars, which is covered in snow for six months of the year.
Soldiers trained for search and rescue missions and conducted exercises in snow-covered forests.
Pictures show the troops sitting around campfires, constructing igloos, driving snowmobiles and accompanying tanks on exercises.
