Joe Biden's $150 'lifestyle' sneakers are 81-year-old's latest bid to prevent a fall that could be catastrophic to his 2024 re-election bid

President Joe Biden's recent footwear choice has sparked speculation he is donning more stable shoes to help prevent his more frequent trips and falls leading into the 2024 election.

An Inside Edition report discovered the sneakers Biden, 81, was seen wearing over the last month are the Hoka Transport, a 'commuter-friendly' shoe for 'performance.'

The laces have a pulley mechanism giving wearers a bypass to tying their shoes.

The Republican National Committee (RNC), under new Trump-aligned leadership, jumped on the report and posted a video of it to the RNC Research social media over the weekend.

'Biden's handlers are forcing him to wear a new pair of 'lifestyle sneakers' because he trips so much,' the account wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

The $150 bulky, black shoes were immediately noticed by observers who questioned the President's choice of footwear with his suit when he was departing the White House last month.

CBS Inside Edition host Les Trent went to a shoe store to try on the Hoka sneaker.

'As you can see, they look quite comfortable,' he said with the shoe now on his foot. 'They have quite a wide sole – no doubt, great for stability.'

'And the President does have a history of stumbling,' Trent noted.

A webpage for the Hoka Transport says the 'stability' of the sneaker is 'neutral' rather than 'moderate or stable.'

'The Transport features a symmetrical bed of cushion without additional prescriptive technologies. Designed to provide the support you want and nothing you don't,' reads a description of the sneaker's features.

Mostly, the Hoka shoe seems to be for traversing the city.

The website notes of the Transport: 'Conceived at the intersection of lifestyle and performance, this commuter-friendly style offers a multitude of sustainability features across the outsole, midsole, and upper. Designed with the city-dweller in mind.'

After President Biden was spotted wearing a very sturdy pair of sneakers last month, increased speculation emerged that aides are taking precautions to prevent him for taking a tumble.

Biden's frequent slips, trips and falls increased speculation over the last few years of his declining health and fitness for office as the 2024 election approaches in November.

On February 19, Biden was spotted exiting the White House to board Marine One wearing the sturdy all-black sneakers with a thick sole, now known to be the Hokas, paired with his blue suit.

The Hoka shoe company was founded in France but the global headquarters is now located in the United States. They primarily manufacture their shoes in Vietnam and China.

Online reviewers praise the shoes for being 'super comfortable' despite their clunky appearance and 'easy to get on and off.'

It's not the first time that President Biden has caused a stir with his footwear choice

Last Summer, the president was spotted wearing a pair of sneakers to board Air Force One on a trip to a NATO summit. The president wore a pair of slip-on Skechers without socks, prompting photographers to take notice.

Biden began wearing sneakers more often after he tripped on a sand bag and fell sprawling on stage during an Air Force Academy commencement ceremony in 2023.

Democrats fear Biden is just one bad fall away from a serious injury that could put the future of his presidency in jeopardy.

The president's allies have urged him to walk shorter distances while on camera and also endorsed the idea of wearing more comfortable shoes to make his appearance seem less stiff and to stabilize him as he walks.

Biden also started using the short staircase to board Air Force One, and has a military aide waiting for him at the bottom of the stairs to monitor his entry and exit.

The president fractured his foot shortly after the 2020 presidential election, as he was forced to wear an orthopedic boot for several days. At the time, Biden said he had exited the shower and tripped over a rug when he was pulling his dog's tail.

Since then, Biden's gait has become more halting and stiff. Biden also refused to wear an orthopedic boot for a lengthy period of time, according to the New York Times, likely having an effect on his posture.

Biden's physical stumbles and missteps only add to questions about his age as a growing number of Americans question whether he should be running for reelection.

Polling show Americans are increasingly concerned Biden is no longer mentally or physically fit for office.

An ABC News/Ipsos poll earlier this year shows that 86 percent of Americans believe Biden is too old for another term.

Biden first displayed his new shoes just hours after former President Donald Trump personally unveiled last month three sets of TRUMP branded sneakers at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

One pair, the 'Never Surrender' model, is sparkling gold and accented with red, white, and blue and retails for $399.
