Olympian and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner has announced in a press conference Monday that she supports a local order banning transgender women from competing in women's sports.
Jenner joined Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman in Mineola as he announced the ban on biological males competing in women's sports at county facilities.
The new law applies to all sports, including college level, but does not include co-ed teams or cases where biological females wish to play men's sports.
As per the directive from the county executive, any league or team requesting permission to utilize any of the over 100 county facilities must declare that they are excluding transgender athletes from participating on females' teams.
'I have been around sports my entire life,' Jenner said. 'I have witnessed the growth and opportunity and protection in women's sports, specifically in this country with the adoption of Title IV in 1972.'
