Delusional Mayor Eric Adams brags about New York City safety - including on the subway system - just days after horrific train shooting amid spate of migrant crime

New York City Mayor Eric Adams claimed the Big Apple is the 'safest big city in America,' just days after a horrific train shooting and the governor deployed National Guard troops to crack down on subway offenders.

'This is the safest big city in America. We inherited a city where crime was up 40 percent, that's not the reality. Our subways are safe — this is great,' Adams said at the city's St. Patrick's Day parade.

There have been more subway shooting victims so far this year compared to all of last year, reported WABC.

While transit crime is down by 15 percent for the month of February compared to 2023, it is up 13 percent compared to last year.

'It has been disturbing to see the subway crime go up,' said Chris Herrmann, a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice who studies crime.

Subway crime isn't the only problem the Big Apple has faced as numerous high-profile incidents involving violence and filled headlines and worried locals and visitors.

'The big red flag for the NYPD is we've surpassed the number of shootings in the subway system for all of 2023 and here we are it's only the beginning of March.'

According to New York City Police Department data, for the week ending March 17, robbery is up 5.8 percent year to date, felony assault is up 3.8 percent and transit crime is up 6.9 percent.

The mayor's comments come as the city has seen a spate of crime, including the murder of a teenage girl at a bodega and a rush-hour subway shooting.

Brooklyn bodega stabbing

On Sunday night, a teenager was stabbed to death outside of a Brooklyn bodega because she refused to follower her killer on Instagram.

Twin sisters Samyis and Sanyia Spain were taking a break from a family game night around 2:20am and decided to get some snacks from a bodega in Park Slope with their brother.

A man encountered the twins and made advances, including asking to connect on social media.

That is when the man attacked, killing Samyia and sending Sanyia to the hospital.

Police have appealed for help finding Sunday's killer who was wearing a ski mask according to witnesses and fled after the attack leaving a knife on the bloodstained street.

Rush hour subway shooting

Two men erupted into a wild brawl on a New York City subway Thursday, moments before the agitator was shot in the head with his own gun.

The 36-year-old man who was shot, Dajuan Robinson, accused the other man, Younece Obuad, of being a 'migrant beating up cops' in furious scenes while other passengers scrambled to get away.

He was then shot in the head with his own handgun by the other man, 32, after it was wrestled away from him in the melee on a Brooklyn A train on Thursday evening.

Obuad will not face charges as Brooklyn prosecutors have ruled he acted in self-defense.

Robinson was quickly identified as the aggressor in the encounter, as he appeared to target Obuad and a female companion on the busy subway, while screaming about migrants.

National Guard Deployed

Last week's shooting on the nation's busiest transit system occurred less than a week after New York Governor Kathy Hochul stationed nearly 1,000 National Guard members in a bid to clamp down on the rampant violence on the subway.

Hochul joined efforts from Adams to halt a surge in attacks in the underground system - which he said is being fueled by a failure to stop repeat offenders.

Adams' crackdown includes subway riders being subjected to 'random' bag checks while the number of plainclothes cops patrolling the station will see a big increase.

The announcement came just days after a subway worker was slashed in the neck as he stuck his head out of a train window on February 29.

Alton Scott, 59, was attacked around 3:40 a.m. while on a southbound A train at the Rockaway Avenue and Fulton Street Station in Brooklyn.

Authorities said the conductor had his head out of the train window when he was slashed once in the neck.

He was taken to Brookdale University Hospital where he received 34 stiches and was later released.

Catsuit Killer

On February 8, Queens sex worker Denisse Oleas-Arancibia was strangled to death and hit over the head in the Soho 54 hotel.

Her suspected killer, Raad Noan Almansoori, 26, was arrested in Arizona after police said he stabbed two women there - one in a McDonalds and the other while stealing her car.

Surveillance footage of Almansoori caught after the murder of Oleas-Arancibia shows him wearing her bodysuit along a well-lit Manhattan street.

Almansoori was on bail at the time of the murder for attacking and sexually assaulting another escort in Florida in April 2023. After being arrested on that charge, he later posted his own bail in September of last year.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell has ordered her staff not to extradite Almansoori and said she is looking out for his victims' families and cannot guarantee the suspect will remain locked up due to Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg's lax bail policies.

Times Square Migrant Attack

A gang of migrants attacked police officers sent to disperse them in Times Square on January 27.

Up to 14 people are believed to have been involved in the attack, although NYPD officials have repeatedly revised the number of suspects.

According to the indictment, the assault happened after two police officers instructed the defendants to move to West 41st Street. When an officer grabbed Brito and pushed him against a building, Brito tried to escape and struggled with the officer while being held on the ground.

That's when the other migrants jumped in and began assaulting the cops, according to police.

A total of eight migrants have been charged since the attack on cops. Police are still on the lookout for at least eight other suspects they believe were involved in the melee.

Yohenry Brito, 24, Yorman Reveron, 24, Kelvin Servita Arocha, 19, Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel, 19, and Wilson Juarez, 21, were all sent to Rikers Island to await trial after being arraigned.

They all face charges of second-degree assault and obstructing governmental administration, except Juarez, who is charged with tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution. They are all due back in court on April 13.
