American slammed after showing off 'Australian steak trick' using Vegemite and bizarre sides: 'We don't eat this'

An American home chef has incited ire after sharing an 'Australian steak trick' she learned Down Under.

Jane Brain recently cooked a sirloin steak with egg, Vegemite, and truffle hot sauce - simultaneously preparing a side dish with Cheezels, oat milk, and melted white cheddar.

The chef frequently attempts bizarre satire recipes online to the chagrin of millions - and Australians are particularly outraged about her strange choice of ingredients, claiming the act could 'have her deported'.

'That's actually worth jail time in Australia,' one said, while another added: 'I'm literally crying right now'.

In her video, Jane began her dinner prep by taking out the centre of a sirloin steak and placing an egg in the middle.

After the steak started cooking on the hot pan, she squeezed half a bottle of Vegemite onto its top and sides.

'We're just going to drizzle on some of this Vegemite sauce to make a nice, thick marinade for our steak,' she said. 'Make sure it is fully coated - I like to do the front and the sides.'

Jane joked that the yeast spread 'looked like Nutella' - and that she wasn't above using the hazelnut chocolate spread on steak, either.

'Next we're going to take a bag of Cheezels - the only thing you can find that's orange cheddar in this country - and use it for our side dish.'

She emptied a packet of Cheezels onto the hot pan, claiming that it was convenient because it would be done at the same time as the steak.

'The Cheezels are a little bit dry - so we're going to add in some oat milk to give it something to cook in,' she said.

'We're going to add in some white cheddar on top - this is going to melt down and give it that nice, creamy texture we're looking for. Think of it like Cheezel mashed potatoes - except way better.'

Jane proceeded to add generous amounts of salt, pepper, and truffle hot sauce to the dish.

'The hot sauce will match the inside of the steak because we're cooking it medium rare,' she said. 'Next, you want to mash the Cheezels up.

'Your kids are going to love this, what a fun meal!' she added.

Jane finished by flipping the steak and adding more Vegemite to the other side to make it 'nice and juicy'.

She plated the dish up and cracked the egg, revealing it to be half-poached.

Jane cut herself a piece of steak and dipped it in the egg yolk and Cheezel mashed potato before taking a bite.

Aussies who believed Jane was being serious slammed her recipe.

'No Australian would ruin a steak with Vegemite,' one said.

''These Cheezels turn into the perfect mashed potatoes' is a phrase I could never have imagined being said out loud,' another wrote.

A third said, 'Someone call immigration, we have a a crazy yank who needs cooking lessons and the next flight home.'

But a few others joined in on the joke.

'As an Australian, this is 100 per cent real and our best dish. All Americans should try this,' a man wrote.
