A hospitality worker has been blasted by the parents of some unruly children after she scolded them for misbehaving in the restaurant she works in.

The outraged parents demanded the server get fired because she shouted at the children who were running around and almost knocked over a tray full of hot drinks.

The woman thinks she may have overreacted but said she was in the right for telling the kids to be careful and behave.

She explained she was working a busy shift at the large restaurant where she's employed when a big family of seven adults and five kids came in for lunch.

'These kids had been running riot, screaming and yelling and playing what I think was tag. I was carrying a large tray of hot drinks when one of the kids goes whirring past me,' the waitress recalled.

'The parents hadn't said anything at this point even though their kids had been running around for the past 30 minutes, one of them had already started throwing a fit and trying to undress themselves.'

The server almost had another run-in with one of the children when she was bringing hot drinks to another table.

'I shouted at the kids and told them they need to either sit down at their table and shut up, or stay outside where they can't get hurt by running into us with our hot drinks,' she said.

'I understand I could have been more polite, but there were about 100 people in the restaurant at this point and they had nearly crashed into me with boiling pots of tea.'

She said the parents were 'livid', the child she scolded started crying and the family complained to her manager that she was 'rude' which got her in 'a lot of trouble'.

'They wanted me fired for quote 'trying to discipline their kids' I get what I said wasn't good but at least it stopped their kid from getting third-degree burns from a pot of tea,' she said.

The woman shared her dilemma in a Reddit post admitting she was slightly too 'hot-headed' with the children but maintains she was in the right for telling them off.

One user was on her side saying: 'I guarantee you if the child had run into you causing you to drop hot drinks on them and they got burns from it, the restaurant would have had a lawsuit from the parents.'

'You did nothing wrong except for having too much patience. Your manager, the parents and the kids all need to be spanked!' joked a second.

'When are such parents going to be more responsible and be able to discipline their children when in public?! It's not hard. You did the right thing,' a third agreed.

Others said she should not have lost her temper at the family and instead had a polite word.

'You should have said something to the parents, or asked your manager to do so before you reached the boiling point,' one wrote.

'My point is best to bite your tongue these days,' another added.

However, the waitress pointed out: 'My manager had spoken to them already before this point, the parents said that they would speak to their kids…they never did and then started b****ing about my manager.'
