The New York Jets are signing wide receiver Mike Williams to a one-year deal worth up to $15million, ESPN and NFL Network reported Tuesday.
Williams, 29, was a cap casualty released by the Los Angeles Chargers last week after he spent his first seven NFL seasons with the club.
Williams' 2023 season was cut short in Week 3 when he suffered a torn ACL.
In 88 career games (62 starts), he has racked up 309 catches for 4,806 yards (15.6 yards per catch) and 31 touchdowns, plus one rushing touchdown.
In Los Angeles, Williams was the No. 2 receiver complementing Keenan Allen.

In New York, he will line up opposite former Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson while quarterback Aaron Rodgers makes his return from injury.
Williams was due to make $17m in the final year of his three-year deal with the Chargers before he was released.
Ahead of the receiver's free-agent visit this week, one Jets fan devised an incredible plan to tempt Williams to sign for their beloved team.
Williams visited the Jets' Florham Park base on Tuesday and content creator @NYJ_Matt decided to pull out all the stops to convince the former Chargers star to join them.
Matt, who has close to 35,000 followers on X, revealed on Monday that he would be sending a famous New Jersey breakfast sandwich - made up of Taylor Ham, egg and cheese - to Florham Park in time for when Williams arrived.
He also told the New York Post: 'Jets need a WR2 badly. I have not done this before.
'If my gesture could increase the odds of him signing by 0.1%, I’m doing it every time.'
On the day of his scheduled free-agent visit, the fan sent a famous New Jersey breakfast sandwich to the Jets' team facility for Williams
Content creator @NYJ_Matt spent $21.32 to deliver the sandwich to his team's training base
After placing the order with DoorDash, which cost him $21.32, Matt's breakfast sandwich for Williams eventually made its way to the Jets' facility - and he provided special instructions for the delivery driver.
'Please hand it to the person at the door and say this is for Mike Williams and let him know catching passes from Aaron Rodgers is more fun than catching from Bryce Young,' he wrote.
Sooner rather than later, the Jets received his delivery and even shared a photo of it placed on their front desk with the caption: 'Got it'.
It remains to be seen whether Williams actually received the sandwich and tried it, and whether the Taylor Ham, egg and cheese was good enough to convince him to move to New Jersey.
The Jets were on the hunt for another wideout this offseason to fit in between Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard on their depth chart.
Williams was also understood to be scheduling visits to the Carolina Panthers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
