Republicans demand answers about Haitian man, 26, who 'assaulted 15-year-old girl' after he was flown in on Biden administration immigrant parole program

Judiciary Committee Republicans are demanding the Biden administration hand over all information related to an undocumented Haitian migrant charged with raping a 15-year-old girl.

Cory Alvarez, 26, is one of the hundreds of thousands of migrants flown directly into the U.S. from foreign airports in Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela under the CHNV parole program.

Migrant crime has been at the forefront after Venezuelan undocumented alien Jose Ibarra, 26, was charged with murdering Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, 22, last month – sparking outrage over the screening process for migrants released into the U.S.

Alvarez allegedly carried out the heinous assault on the disabled teenager while both were living at a Comfort Inn in the Boston suburb of Rockland, Massachusetts. The hotel is also serving as a migrant shelter – it is unclear if the victim is also a migrant.

The Haitian immigrant was arrested on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to aggravated rape of a child.

Haiti is currently experiencing a massive gang violence uprising that threatens to collapse the government and Haitians are fleeing the island to nearby countries – including the U.S.

House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement Chairman Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday demanding information on Alvarez.

It comes as Republicans in the House crack down on the CHNV program, which allows migrants from the four countries to apply for asylum through the CBP One app and be flown to the U.S.

The program allows 30,000 to enter each month – and once landing in the U.S., the migrants are given a two-year grace period to obtain documented status.

Alvarez was one of the migrants flown from Haiti to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City on taxpayer dime. He came to the U.S. in June 2023 as a CHNV applicant. He was sponsored by someone in New Jersey for parole, but did not seem to ever reside in New Jersey nor receive much support from the sponsor.

The Comfort Inn where the assault occurred is part of a state and federal program housing migrant families, according to a statement from the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.

In Massachusetts there are approximately 7,500 families enrolled in the emergency shelter system statewide and more than half are in hotels and motels, according to figures released by the government.

Reps. Jordan and McClintock want case history and information on Alvarez's entrance into the U.S. – including questioning during his processing and whether there were alerts to 'derogatory information' about him.

They are pushing for the information on Alvarez to be turned over by April 2.

Republicans want to know how the Biden administration is screening migrants that are permitted release into the country amid a surging southern border and immigration crisis.

Laken Riley's suspected murderer entered the U.S. across the southern border in El Paso, Texas in September 2022 and was 'paroled and released for further processing,' according to officials.

Ibarra was 'charged with acting in a manner to injure a child less than 17 and a motor vehicle license violation' in New York in September 2023 but was released 'before a detainer could be issued,' Immigration and Customs Enforcement said.
