This is the shocking moment carjackers attempted to seize a $200,000 Bentley Bentayga from a driver in a New Jersey parking lot.

The unidentified driver was immediately approached by three masked suspects as he pulled into the Patel Brothers grocery store on Oak Tree Road in Edison on Friday afternoon.

The driver, who is the son of the grocery store owner, Kaushik Patel, managed to fight off the perpetrators and ran into the store with his key fob in his pocket.

'When I saw the video I was scared, what happened, but then I called, my son said "I'm safe dad, don't worry, everything is good, just minor scratched",' Patel told abc7

His son was previously targeted during another carjacking where the thieves got away with his Mercedes G-Class SUV, another luxury car worth more than $160,000.

The wary father said that his son was not physically hurt during the frightening attack and made it back to work on Tuesday, but he is still shaken up over the incident.

Video of the attempted carjacking shows Patel's son turn into the parking lot in his orange Bentley SUV and pull into a parking spot.

Just as he parks the vehicle, the trio quickly walks over and sneaks up on him as he sat in the driver's seat with the door open.

Two of the carjackers, one wearing a black hoodie and the other wearing a white one, directly approach the driver as the third one goes toward the passenger's side.

The duo start to scuffle with the driver, who fights back before the third suspect joins them and gangs up on Patel's son.

The one wearing a white hoodie then pulls on the drivers leg and manages to yank him out of the car, as the two slam into a red sedan nearby.

While that happens, the other two suspects hop into the Bentley and shut the door before they realize they need a key fob to operate the vehicle.

The victim is then seen being punched in the face before the suspect that attacked him joins the rest of the crew in the car. As this happens, a bystander watches from a couple cars away.

The driver then dashes out of the frame and runs into the store as the trio sit in the car for a moment before jumping out, slamming the doors and fleeing the scene.

'My son fought with them and didn't give up, didn't give the key,' the father told New12 New Jersey

'Bentley's, Mercedes, BMW's, Audi's – they don't go for cheap cars. A couple of days back, there was another car gone within 15 minutes.'

'They are coming from Newark, a couple of them, police catch them. A few days later they are in and they are out,' Patel said.

Sam Joshi, the mayor of Edison has been trying to crackdown on carjacking's and burglaries in town, and even set up a command center in the store's parking lot.

Edison Police Chief Tom Bryan said that the command post gives authorities more visibility to monitor the area, and that police reports are also accepted there.

'There's video camera inside, all around we can see what's going on at all times, it's important,' Bryan told News12 New Jersey.

The mayor said that the town, located in Middlesex County, has also implemented more than 80 license plate readers 'that are strategically placed throughout town.'

'We have tripled and sometimes quadrupled the presence of the police force around the streets and patrolling,' Joshi told abc7.

Although Joshi has tried to do his part as the leader of the town, he said: 'State leadership and laws are allowing for these crimes to keep occurring.'

Joshi said that it is 'completely unacceptable' that juvenile criminals are being released soon after they are arrested.

'I just left a meeting with the attorney general and I was with other mayors, a juvenile or a criminal that commits a crime should not go back out on the streets the same week they are caught, it is completely unacceptable,' he said.

According to police, a majority of the crimes are conducted by teenagers who specifically target luxury vehicles to make tens of thousands of dollars off of for each.

Police are currently investigating the violent carjacking that took place on Friday.

In a video posted to the police department's Facebook, Joshi said that 'crimes like these are rising throughout the country.'
