A nine-year-old girl has died in a head-on car crash in Texas while returning from Spring Break with her family.
Molly Mullens, a third grader at University Park Elementary School in Dallas, was killed alongside the driver of the other vehicle in the collision on U.S. Highway 70 in Vernon on Saturday.
Texas Department of Public Safety officials said it was raining and roads were wet when the driver of a 2014 Honda Odyssey lost control on a curved section of the road a swerved through the median, reported The Dallas Morning News.
The Mullens family's 2021 GMC Yukon was hit head on and Molly, her parents Michael and Marissa Mullens and brothers Connor, 15, and Sean, 13, were all taken to the hospital. Molly was pronounced dead at the hospital.
'Marissa has sustained spinal injuries and aortic dissection. Boys, Connor and Sean, each sustained abdominal injuries, multiple fractures, and are needing further surgery. Mike has several fractures,' said the Mullens family GoFundMe.

According to an update on Marissa's CaringBridge page, the mother had lumbar fusion surgery on Wednesday and Michael is scheduled to have surgery on his right elbow and let ankle.
The community has set up a memorial for Molly decorated with pink ribbons, bouquets of flowers, candles and Easter eggs, reported CBS News Texas.
A note left at the memorial written by Molly's friend Stratton said: 'Thank you for being the best friend ever! You were kind and always fun and you would always have a smile on your face.'
University Park Elementary School Principal Kim Banuelos said: 'Molly exemplified joy and kindness in our school. Her enthusiasm for life and learning was noticeable, and she had a remarkable way of making each day brighter for everyone around her. Molly's absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.'
The Mullens family dog, a goldendoodle named Allie, ran away from the crash but was found by a couple, according to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Juan Guiterrez.
