A man is facing charges for stealing around $1.8million in Hermes Birkin bags from a shop at a Miami Beach hotel, according to police.
Eduardo Travieso Garcia, 45, was arrested Tuesday on charges that included grand theft and masked burglary.
Officers reportedly responded to a call about a burglary just after 3am on Tuesday at the Maison Wrist Aficionado store at Miami Beach's Setai Hotel.
Police found the front door of the high-end shop propped open and its door lock punched out.
Eduardo Travieso Garcia, 45, was arrested Tuesday on charges that included grand theft and masked burglary
Garcia and another man allegedly stole some 60 Hermes Birkin bags worth an estimated $1.8million from a luxury hotel shop
The burglary occurred on Tuesday morning around 3am at Miami Beach's upscale Setai hotel
The bags can resell for $20,000-$35,000 each, though rarer models can go for much, much more
Garcia reportedly provided a full confession to officers and was booked into jail
The place had also apparently been ransacked.
Security camera footage showed a man getting out of a large van and walking up to the entrance before he broke the lock and returned to the van.
Another man then exited the van and approached the store with a large gray garbage bin. The first man then returned with another bin.
The men were then seen on camera running away with the bins filled to the top with the purses - each worth tens of thousands of dollars.
The men fled the scene in two separate vehicles, one of which was stolen, and the other was connected to a burglary earlier this month on the other side of the state.
The security manager of the luxury hotel told officers that the two men stole some 60 Hermes Birkins, valued at more than $1.8million.
The bags retail for around $10,000, and resell for $20,000-$35,000 each depending on the condition, leathers, and color combinations. Models crafted from exotic skins can sell for much, much more.
Officers tracked down the second vehicle, which led them to Garcia later on Tuesday.
The man reportedly provided a full confession and was booked into jail.
It is not clear whether the second suspect has been apprehended.
