A mysterious plaque has appeared on a Bristol bench paying tribute to a 'Husband, Father, Adulterer'.

It appears to be a message to a departed loved one as it begins 'For My Love'.

The inscription was spotted on a bench in Royal York Crescent in the Clifton area of the city this morning.

The full message reads: 'For My Love. 06.09.69 - 25.12.23. Husband, Father, Adulterer. Yes, Roger, I knew.'

It is not known who Roger was or who commissioned the plaque in his honour.

The 63-year-old woman who spotted the plaque said: 'I have to say I found it very funny when I saw it.

'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.'

Commemorative plaques are often attached to benches in memory of lost loved ones - and this is actually the second plaque fixed to this same seat.

According to the plaque, Roger died on Christmas Day last year at the age of 54.
