A professional cleaner has revealed the easiest way to turn dirt-stained sneakers white again - and it'll take you no time at all.

Anita Birges, from Sydney, is a cleaning and organising expert and shared her frustration with the stubborn wear stains and scuff marks on her family's white sneakers.

She recently shared that by using three household ingredients you can give your beloved shoes a new lease on life.

Anita mixes 1/4 cup dishwashing liquid, 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide, and 1/4 cup baking soda into a paste and then uses an old toothbrush to scrub the shoes.

'I have tested and tried so many sneaker cleaning hacks over the years and this is by far the most effective one I've seen to date!' she said in a video.

While Anita prefers using the Dawn brand, it is only available at Costco or Amazon in Australia.

Instead, you can replace it for your choice of dishwashing liquid and the hack will work the same.

'Remember to take the laces out before you start scrubbing,' she advised.

'Be generous with the solution and scrub all around the shoe - including the tongue. Pop the laces into what's left of the solution and leave it to soak for 45 minutes.'

Anita then simply places the shoes and laces into a delicates bag and puts them in the washing machine for a 30 minute cycle.

'Be sure to remove the inner soles when putting them in the washing machine as sometimes the innersoles are dyed and it can run all over the shoe.

'Do not put them in a dryer or in front of a heater when you're done,' she warned. 'Put the shoes in the sun instead or let them air-dry.'

Anita added, 'You will be blown away by the results.'

A few others shared their own sneaker cleaning hacks.

'Dishwasher tab and on a regular cycle in the washing machine. Like brand new!' a mum said.

'I use fabric spray - works every time! Even white ones sparkle,' another added.

'Wow! Those sneakers look amazing! This cleaning hack is a game changer,' a third wrote. 'Thanks for sharing the recipe! I'll definitely have to try this on my own sneakers.'
