A British woman who relocated to the US has revealed the 'weird' thing that 'blew her mind' when it came to package delivery in America.

Amber Peacock has been documenting her journey adjusting to life in the States after moving from the UK to Florida in 2023 to get her daily dose of sunshine in the palm tree-filled state.

Most recently, the 28-year-old took to the video-sharing platform to detail one of the biggest culture shocks she was met with after she packed up her belongings.

In a viral video, which has so far amassed over 166,000 views, Amber revealed that she was stunned when she discovered that delivery drivers just drop your packages off instead of knocking and waiting until you open your door to hand it to you.

The mom-of-one captioned the clip: 'I actually think this is great!'

'We have been living in America for a few months now, but this is something that we have only just figured out that blew my mind,' she said.

Amber explained that a few weeks ago, she and her husband heard a knock at the door and went to open it because they assumed it was package delivery.

However, it was just a 'drunk' man asking for a charger.

When the lovebirds told their friends about the encounter, they told Amber that postmen don't ring or knock the door.

Amber explained: 'This is when we found out that apparently, deliveries don't knock. So since then, for the last couple of weeks, I have really been paying attention. No delivery driver or mailman knocks.

'Even when I have ordered fresh groceries to be delivered, they don't knock. They just leave them on the door step.'

She noted that in the UK, every single delivery driver knocks, and that you are 'lucky' if they leave your package on your door if you don't answer.

'This is something I find really weird, but I think I like it. It means no matter whether you're in or not, your package is going to get left,' she said.

At the end of the clip, Amber noted that although it is 'really weird', she likes it because she is 'anti-social.'

Americans flooded the comments section and gave Amber some tips to blend in following her move.

One person said: 'Things definitely still get stolen off the porch lol that's why we need doorbell cameras.'

Someone else wrote: 'American rule, don't answer the door.'

'Only expensive deliveries knock. We don't answer doors unless we expect someone. I make DoorDash knock cause I've had too many taken to the wrong place or stolen,' added another user.

One user commented: 'Ours knock - had to put up a note telling them not to. LOL.'
