Victoria Azarenka's quarter-final match against Yulia Putinseva was suspended for 45 minutes at the Miami Open after a power issue led the Hawkeye system to switch off in farcical scenes.

Play stopped just 17 minutes into Tuesday's game at Hard Rock Stadium. At the time, Putinseva was leading 2-1, serving at 30-0.

'So, they're having a Hawkeye power outage, which is a problem, because that's how they call the lines, and until that's been resolved, we're not playing,' a Tennis Channel commentator pointed out while the camera focused on chair umpire Marija Cicak.

'I'm not getting any lights,' Cicak can be heard saying into her walkie-talkie straight afterward, as she attempted to get a grip of the situation early-on.

'Can you tell me what's happening up there?'

With no immediate response provided, Cicak is left with no choice but to pause the match and summon both players to the net.

She then briefed them on the technical issue.

'So, at the moment, you can see at the back [that] we lost power and [that] we lost the lights and the system,' Cicak told both, Azarenka and Putinseva. 'So we can't continue...'

'Then why did we play two points' Azarenka fired back before the chair umpire reassured her that Hawkeye was working at that time.

'When I went to announce the score, I couldn't say it,' Cicak eventually clarified. 'So we stop until they actually fix it. Until we get one of... I prefer to have the lights then I call it.'

Play eventually resumed three-quarters of an hour later.

Azarenka is a three-time Miami Open winner, having won the WTA tournament in 2009, 2011 and 2016.
