A new age progression image has been released of Afghan toddler Lina Sardar Khil by The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

At the age of three, Khil vanished from her family's Texas apartment complex on December 20, 2021. This picture depicts how she would appear at six years old.

Pamela Allen, who runs the non-profit Eagles Flight Advocacy & Outreach, has served as the family's advocate throughout the search from Lina.

Allen told local ABC affiliate KVUE that the NCMEC contacted her about the new image so she could get the family's approval.

'It's a step in the right direction,' Allen said.

The advocate said Khil's family approved of the image, which is now being shared across different platforms.

'When they see an age progression photo, it helps them to continue that hope,' Allen said

Last month, an inmate tipped off the San Antonio police, claiming Khil was buried in a field behind an apartment complex half a mile away from when she was last seen.

'It was hard to watch and it was hard sitting next to the dad and during our searches when it first happened, all of those feelings came back because it was always such a scary notion that we would find Lina's remains,' Allen said.

Officials came up empty handed, and determined the tip was not credible.

The family has remained persistent in the search for their daughter.

Khil was recently featured in a Paramount Plus docuseries about different missing persons cases.

'They believe someone knows something and they hope and pray that whoever that person is will have the courage to come forward and give them information about their daughter,' Allen said.
