This is the heart-racing moment a woman plunges a staggering 141 feet in an extreme new style of bungee jumping where adrenaline junkies spiral out of the sky - with no rope.

Nervously getting into the correct harness position, the woman is pushed just outside of the platform with her legs dangling mid-air.

Asking the thrill seeker whether she wanted a countdown or a surprise drop, the woman opted for the latter.

The ride operator asked her what she had planned for the rest of the day, as she anxiously waited mid-air for the death-defying ride to commence.

Suddenly the attendant pulls the rope, sending her plummeting a staggering 141 feet, whilst letting out a blood curdling scream on her descent.

After falling through the heavens, the woman's fall is safely broken by a large green net.

But the lack of rope is no accident - it's all a part of the new stomach-churning ride in New Zealand named Vertigo.

The unorthodox style of bungee jumping has captured the attention of many, after the hair-raising clip was posted on TikTok by Velocity Valley Adrenaline Park.

Amassing a whopping 20.2 million views so far, the shocking footage was captioned: 'We call this… 'the distraction drop,'

Terrifying millions of viewers, thousands to the comments to expressing their shock at the lack of rope.

'No WAY this is safe,' one quipped, while another added: 'My heart dropped when she was disconnected.'

'Watching the man's feet so close to the edge made my teeth go funny,' a third penned.

'My smile fell when I realised there was no overhead line and that she was gonna go straight down,' another chimed.

Others were terrified by the free-fall, whilst some viewers branded the stomach-churning ride as 'a hard pass'.

'Definitely a no from me,' wrote one onlooker.

Another said her palms had become sweaty just from watching the heart-pounding footage.

The death-defying ride opened earlier this month and people have, quite literally, jumped at the chance to have a go.

Safety equipment and checks, including a rope, are still carried to make the hair-raising ride as safe as possible.

But once a member of the team pushes a thrill seeker off the platform, leaving them hanging mid-air, they can expect to experience the 'longest four seconds' of their lives, Velocity Valley Adrenaline Park said.

Nose-diving through the heavens may not be everyone's idea of fun, however, daredevils can rest assured there is a trampoline placed below to catch them.

But not everyone can get on the risky ride, as there are special requirements for participants.

Adrenaline junkies have to weigh between 49 and 110kg and be over the age of ten to have a go on the terrifying attraction.

Since the ride opened at the Velocity Valley Adrenaline Park, many have jumped at the chance to have a go - however you must be over the age of ten and weigh between  49 and 110kg (pictured: another woman having a go on the ride)
