The Los Angeles medical examiner has ruled schoolgirl Shaylee Mejia died of 'accidental' blunt head trauma after cops said she fell down the stairs at a party - but her mother has said this isn't the case.
Shaylee, 16, died on March 15, days after she was brutally attacked inside a bathroom at Manual Arts High School in the California city. Her mother Maria Juarez blames this altercation for her death.
In a report published Tuesday which isn't yet finalized, LA deputy medical examiner Dr Emily Lo ruled Shaylee's death an 'accident' caused by 'sequelae of blunt head trauma', and cops said she fell down the stairs at a party on March 9.
Police were called to the party after Shaylee collapsed. But Juarez says there were no stairs involved, and her daughter fainted due to hurting her head in the fight days before.
Shocking footage shows the moment Shaylee's head was aggressively slammed into a cubicle by another student in the women's restroom on March 5, as several other girls stood nearby watching.

One girl drags Shaylee by her hair and hits her head against the stall before she falls to the ground. Numerous punches are exchanged by the two girls throughout the brawl.
Juarez said her daughter complained about headaches for several days but did not initially tell her about the fight because she didn't want her to worry or take time off work.
She also continued to attend school before she went to a party the following Saturday night. At the party, Kaylee fainted and a friend said that she stopped talking and fell down, according to Juarez.
The teen was taken to the hospital and heartbreaking photos show her lying in a hospital bed on a ventilator. She died six days later, on March 15.
Juarez, a housekeeper and the family's sole provider, claimed her daughter was being bullied for months and school officials failed to stop it.
'Everybody knows about my daughter hitting her head, the teachers too,' Juarez told KTLA previously. 'Everybody knows.'
The teenage girl joined Manual Arts High around eight months ago when she moved into a new apartment with her mother and younger brother.

Mejia's mother Maria Juarez and her attorney Luis Carrillo told ABC7 that they believe her death to have stemmed as a result of the injury sustained in the fight
Manual Arts High School principal Alejandro Macias said: 'While this tragic incident took place outside of school hours and off campus, our heartfelt thoughts remain with those affected by this loss'
After several months at the school, the mom said her daughter began coming home with bruises all over her body, which she thought was due to other fights.
Juarez took pictures of the injuries to show school officials and campus police but claims nothing was done about the issue.
She added her daughter continued to be targeted by bullies and several attacks were captured on camera.
Juarez revealed that the teen's three-year-old brother was devastated by the news of his sister's passing.
'He’s sad,' Juarez said. 'He misses his sister. I just, I don’t know. I want to die.'
Juarez also told ABC7 that her daughter was 'very obedient, a very good daughter, a very good sister'.
'I just ask for justice,' she said.
Manual Arts High School principal Alejandro Macias said he was 'saddened' by the student's death 'off campus'.
'On behalf of our entire school community, I want to offer my deepest condolences to those who are impacted by this loss, including the student’s family, friends, and teachers,' he said.
