Video footage captured the shocking moment a pro-Palestine mob overran a city council meeting that was discussing Holocaust Remembrance Day in California.
The protestors disrupted a Berkeley city council meeting on Tuesday, shouting anti-Semitic slurs at the crowd, as seen in videos shared by the Jewish Community Relations Council on X.
During the meeting, a Holocaust survivor and a mother sharing her son's experience with anti-Semitism at school were heckled and laughed at by the protesters.
Spewing historical anti-Semitic tropes, one man in a Keffiyeh interrupted, yelling, 'How much money did these ass***** give you? Cowards, go chase the money! You money suckers.'
'You are traitors to this country,' a woman chimed in. 'You are spies for Israel.'
The situation escalated as protesters accused the council of being financially influenced by Jewish organizations - another common anti-Semitic trope.

'Being around Zionists really gets your blood going, and you're hiding behind Zionists,' said a woman named Sheryl proudly into the microphone. 'Zionism is equal to hatred and bigotry, and that's what you guys are standing for'
The situation escalated as protesters accused the council of being influenced by Jewish organizations - another anti-Semitic trope
The trope that Jewish people have financial control traces back to the middle ages when Jews were excluded from many trades and prohibited from working in finance, leading them to go into the 'marginal role' of moneylending.
'This is a Zionist stronghold,' one woman said, covering her face with a keffiyeh. 'The people of Berkeley love Palestine,' she screeched.
Then the group chanted the trendy cheer, 'Free, Free Palestine!' and 'From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.'
'End Zionism! End Israel! Free Palestine,' another shouted.
The three hour session included discussions over the Proclamation in Honor of City of Berkeley Holocaust Remembrance Day and a budget item for the 2024 Virtual Holocaust Remembrance Day, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Some council members attempted to control the mob and allow speakers to use their allotted time but were unable to stop the disruptive behavior.
Despite the disruption, council members and other participants tried to address local issues and concerns related to Jew-hatred and the situation in Berkeley.
'Last week, my 7-year-old Jewish son told me he heard a group of kids at his school say that Jews are stupid,' one mother said while the protesters laughed.
'Zionists are!' said the activists. 'Zionists are stupider.'

Speaker Susanne Dewitt, an 89-year-old survivor of the Dachau concentration camp was verbally attacked after she highlighted the surge of antisemitism in the wake of the October 7 Massacre makes the passing the Holocaust remembrance proclamations crucial
'Get the f**k out of here, you Zionist pig,' one man said on video. 'F**k you, Zionist pig.'
'Occupiers have no right to defense,' said another, claiming the fact that women were raped and tortured among other atrocities on Oct. 7 is all 'lies.'
'Being around Zionists really gets your blood going, and you're hiding behind Zionists,' said a woman named Sheryl proudly into the microphone. 'Zionism is equal to hatred and bigotry, and that's what you guys are standing for.'
It's unclear if the woman knew at the time that 95 percent of Jewish people in the US consider themselves to be 'Zionists,' meaning a person who believes in the protection of the single Jewish nation in the world, Israel.
There are at least 21 Christian nations in the world, and Muslims are the majority in 49 countries. The number of Muslims in the world is around 1.8 billion, while the world's Jewish population is just about 15.7 million as of 2023.
That's approximately 0.2 percent of the 8 billion worldwide population - with Israel hosting the largest core Jewish population in the world with 7.2 million, followed by the United States with 6.3 million.

'We are currently witnessing a horrendous surge in anti-Semitism,' said Dewitt. 'Jews are now under existential threat the invasion of Hamas which broke a ceasefire in 2029 led to the murder of 1,200 Israeli and the brutal torture and rape of women the destruction of property.'
Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin expressed shock and condemnation over the hateful and disruptive behavior. He emphasized that this would not intimidate him on Thursday, and that he was outraged over the 'hateful and deeply anti-Semitic behavior' at the meeting.

'Heckling people including Holocaust survivors, then co-opting its message for an anti-Jewish agenda, threats and hate speech will not be tolerated,' Arreguin said on X.
