We were sick of our noisy neighbours playing the piano so we complained - but their reply left us feeling awful

A set of flatmates who complained to their noisy neighbours for playing the piano early in the morning felt awful after they got a heartwarming reply.

Martina Panchetti and her friends asked the family next door if their children could not make so much noise early at the weekends, but received an adorable written apology in reply as well as a gift of delicious baked sweets.

The letter was shared by Martina on TikTok, saying: 'We sent a letter to our neighbours politely asking to make less noise (they're a family with kids) and possibly avoid playing piano too early in the morning. This is how they replied...'

It cut to a picture of an envelope held together with a smiley sticker and  then a letter explaining that even the children's mother was on her neighbours' side.

It read: 'Dear neighbours. Thank you for your kind message. We realise that sometimes we can be noisy and naughty.'

'We started learning piano and our teachers tell us to practice every day but we sincerely apologise not considering the times of the day and the weekends.

'To be honest mummy has been telling us not to play in the mornings and she also wants to get some sleep on the weekends.

'We promise YOU and we promise our mummy to try to be more considerate.

'Please accept our national Azeri sweets as a token of apology! Ps not nut free!'

Adding to the cuteness factor, the children signed off, 'your loud neighbours,' as Martina mimed crying.

Martina then showed off her neighbours' Azerbaijani sweet treats - pakhlava, pastry layered with nuts and syrup, and shekerbura, a sweet pastry filled with ground nuts and sugar.

'We're in tears,' the overwhelmed recipient added.

Martina's video has surpassed three million views on TikTok, but it did not end there.

After some comments suggested that Martina and her friends were the real bad neighbours in this scenario, she posted a follow-up.

She began the clip: 'For all the people saying that I am the bad neighbour for complaining about kids making noise, our letter was very polite, very friendly, we weren't complaining about noise in general - it was specifically towards piano playing, early in the morning, at weekends.'

She explained that she and her friends even enjoy hearing their neighbours practicing piano at more sociable hours.

Martina said that, in line with what many comments suggested they would do in her situation, she and her flat mates decided to send over some treats of there own.

The group made a box of Zeppola di San Giuseppe - an Italian treat traditionally made for Father's Day.

In addition, they decorated the box with cute drawings and delivered it with a letter in reply to the children's, as well as a picture of the group.

'The kids were so ashamed, they were hiding behind their dad,' Martina revealed.

It would appear that the saga has resulted in an 'endless exchange'.

Martina finished by saying that after her flat gifted their Italian pastries, she and her boyfriend went out.

While they were gone, Martina received a message from the flat saying that they had been sent sushi by the neighbours as they had 'ordered too much'.

'What a coincidence,' Martina quipped.
