An 'intoxicated' man was seen driving onto a Miami Beach boardwalk on Sunday morning before veering off the platform and plunging his car into the ocean.

Yandeivy Chavez Dominguez, 22, allegedly mistook the popular boardwalk for a road and zoomed into the water early in the morning.

Dominguez reportedly sped down the South Pointe Park marina boardwalk, and then drove over a concrete barrier and into the Atlantic Ocean.

By 7am, a crowd of bemused onlookers had gathered at the scene, staring into the ocean, where the battered sedan was visible under the green water. The trunk of the sedan was yawning open and above the water.

Andres Asion, a local resident, posted a video of the crash's aftermath on his Facebook page.

In the video, Asion pointed at an apartment complex looming above his shoulder and said: 'So I was in my apartment right up there, and I heard a car at a high rate of speed crash into something.'

He continued: 'I couldn't find where it was, and then I looked out into the water and realized that he fallen into the water. This guy was drunk. He had just come from a bar.'

Behind Asion, Dominguez could be seen sitting on the ground, surrounded by a throng of police officers. The alleged drunk diver hugged his knees and was dripping water.

'He thought that that was a road,' Asion said, gesturing at the boardwalk with his thumb. Asion then said that Dominguez was 'hauling a** down the boardwalk of the marina and flew over the barrier here and landed in the water. Crazy.'

Later in the video, Asion approached the water's edge and peered over the boardwalk at the car.

Pieces of the crashed vehicle appeared to float on the surface. Water bubbled up around the sunk car.

The barrier was streaked with dirt where Dominguez's car had driven over it.

Police could be heard in the background of the video worriedly asking if there were anyone else in the car.

'Is there somebody else in there?' a concerned officer yelled. The authorities leaned over the platform and stared at the car.

Dominguez, who was standing between two officers, held up his hands in a pose that suggested annoyance.

One indignant resident harangued Dominguez, who was now sitting on the ground again, his body dripping water onto the concrete.

'You should be arrested, boy. You hear me, boy? You're a nut.'

Dominguez threw up his hands and looked at the man. The police asked the resident to leave. 'I've said my word,' the man said and walked away.

The video then showed two women who were apparently on the boardwalk at the time of the crash. They looked shocked by what they had witnessed, and the officer asked them to recount what they had seen.

'We were sitting here with my father,' one woman said and gestured toward the other, who was holding an urn in her arms.

They said that the car 'was coming up to them,' and moving 'at a very, very high speed.'

The video showed Dominguez, sitting on a damp patch of concrete, holding his forehead in his hand. A gold chain was hanging around his neck, and a gold bracelet was around his wrist.

Then Asion filmed the ocean again, through which a man was swimming toward the sunk vehicle.

'Fire rescue going into the water to clear the vehicle to make sure nobody else is in the vehicle,' Asion narrated.

The rescuer dove under the water and examined the car. Other emergency officials leaned over the boardwalk expectantly. He looked into the trunk and then swam back to the boardwalk.

'Nobody else was found in the vehicle and the vehicle was cleared,' Asion said.

The video then showed Dominguez standing before three police officers. One officer moves a pen in a circular motion in front of the driver's eyes.

'This is the driver being administered the sobriety test,' Asion narrated in the background. For the next part of the sobriety test, it appeared that Dominguez was asked to stand on one foot, something which he struggled to do.

Dominguez repeatedly tried to stand on one leg but kept losing his balance and staggering on the ground.

Ultimately, the cops cuffed the man and led him away from the water.

According to an arrest report, Dominguez reeked of alcohol following the crash. He is now facing a driving under the influence charge. Dominguez is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correction Center. His bond has been set at $10,000.
