The 42-year-old Army Reserve officer, who was born in Leloaloa, American Samoa, has been based in Hawaii where she was raised and first began her career in public service - after being elected to the state's House of Representatives at the age of 21.
Gabbard is not believed to have any political ambitions in Texas and also remains an active member of the U.S. Army Reserve as a lieutenant colonel of a California-based unit, for which she is expected to be going on duty in April.
She is also gearing up for the release of her new book, For Love of Country: Leave the Democrat Party Behind, on April 30.
Previously a rising star of the Democratic Party – even running as a progressive presidential candidate in 2020 – Gabbard sensationally quit the party in October 2022, setting off shockwaves and a political tsunami for Dems.
In a blistering video and series of posts shared on X, formerly Twitter, she criticized the party's 'cowardly wokeness' and accused them of 'stoking anti-white racism'.
'I can no longer remain in today's Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue and stoke anti-white racism, actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms that are enshrined in our Constitution,' she said at the time.
Gabbard previously owned a four-bedroom, 3.5 bath home in Washington, D.C.'s Dupont Park neighborhood but sold the property for $950,000, in October 2021
She has since been leasing a Hawaii house on the island of Oahu with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, worth $2.5million and located just two blocks from spectacular Kailua Beach

Gabbard and Williams were married by a Hindu priest in a Vedic ceremony in 2015
But, today, she is singing loudly from the MAGA hymn sheet, repeatedly saying she would be open to being Trump's running mate.
In an interview last week with Tucker Carlson, she doubled down, saying: 'The Biden Harris administration and the Democrat elite across Washington are intentionally politicizing and weaponizing the tools of our own government and their friends in Big Tech and social media and their friends in the mainstream media to take away our freedoms, to take away our right to free speech, to violate our privacy and our civil liberties.
'They have become the party of war.
'Unfortunately the Democrat Party has become a party that is undermining the very fabric of our country, of our freedom, of our constitution and the rule of law which is why ultimately I left the Democratic Party.
'It's why I am sounding the alarm bells as we head into this very critical election year about really what's at stake.'
The ex-Democrat is now being considered as a potential running mate for Republican frontrunner Donald Trump.

Leander, the couple's new home nestled in the heart of Texas, saw rapid growth, especially during the pandemic.
The population jumped from 50,000 in 2020 to 75,000 in 2022.
According to the City of Leander website, in 2009 it was the 37th fastest growing city in the country.
Officials describe the city as 'warm and welcoming.'
It was first called Bagdad and grew up near the Austin and Northwest Railroad that connected Austin to Abilene, 220 miles away.
As the small town expanded it changed its name to Leander, named in honor of railroad company official and former Austin mayor Leander Brown.
'Leander is a city that boasts a unique charm and energy,' says the city's website.
