A woman has shared a sweet love letter that her great-great-grandfather penned while he was courting her great-great-grandmother back in the late 19th century - and the incredibly romantic note has left the internet swooning over her deceased relative.

Angela Nauss was going through her 97-year-old grandmother's things when she discovered the letter, dated August 5, 1890, written by her ancestor, Salvatore Ciucci, to Anna Murphy, the woman who would later become his wife, mere months after immigrating from Italy.

The note was ostensibly asking her out on a date, after he'd moved from his home country to San Francisco.

'I am obsessed with this horndog letter my great-great-grandfather wrote,' Angela narrated in her TikTok video.

'He's met an Irish girl, and he's gonna shoot his shot.

'The problem is, he's only been in the United States four months and he does not speak English.'

'Luckily, that has never stopped an Italian from hitting on someone!' she quipped. 'You got this, Salvatore.'

Written in theatrically curling penmanship, the letter begins: 'Dearest Darling.

'I take a great pleasure in write to you to let you know that I like going out. Tonight if you coming, if you like to coming, I wait for you on same corner of [illegible] at nine o'clock, I hope do not to be disappointed.

'Good Bye Dear Anna love me forever and Received a Kiss From Yours faithful Loving S. Ciucci.'

Angela went on to state that Salvatore's efforts paid off, as the pair ended up marrying and having four children together.

With many clearly feeling Salvatore's charm vicariously, viewers took to their comments to praise his courtship efforts.

'Listen - calligraphy like that buys a lot of leeway grammatically… I would for sure have been on the corner of ~illegible~,' one admitted.

'This would work on me,' a second echoed.

'Salvatore's got that rizz (charisma),' a third agreed of his flirting finesse.

'Him centering "Dearest Darling" with the fanciest loops like he really was going for it,' a fourth pointed out.

Of her decision to post the note on social media, Angela told Newsweek: 'I wanted to share the TikTok video to inspire people to acknowledge the love they share with others.'

'Someday you will be gone, but your love will last forever,' she stated. 'Who knows, maybe your great-granddaughter will find one of your letters.'
