A former Dunkin' barista has left the internet stunned after revealing the insane amount of sugar contained in the flavorings used in its popular iced coffee drinks.

Ryan Tatum, from Florida, took to TikTok to issue a stark warning about consumers' daily caffeine routine.

She claimed that when she worked at the chain there were '33 grams of sugar per pump' of swirl - which she said quickly added up.

The content creator was soon flooded with comments from 'heartbroken' fans of the beverages as one lamented: 'Now why would you tell me this?'

In the clip, which has so far been viewed more than 130,000 times, Ryan spoke directly to camera as she sipped a Dunkin' iced coffee from inside her car.

She began: 'If I have to be burdened with this information, then you have to know it too.

'I've been seeing an increasing amount of people getting a Dunkin' iced coffee, and I see all these recipes, and I absolutely love it because I'm a Dunkin' stan.

'But as a former employee, I feel like it is my right and duty to tell you that all of their swirls have 33 grams of sugar per pump.

'The standard is two pumps for small, three pumps for medium and four pumps for a large.'

Elaborating further, Ryan dished: 'If you get a medium caramel iced coffee - that's not including the milk or the additional sugar that they put in there - you are automatically getting 100 grams of sugar (technically 99).

'I stumbled upon this information because one summer they were doing their 99 cents happy hours - where you can get an iced coffee for 99 cents from 3pm to 6pm.

'I was getting one every single day. I'm telling you, every single day, and I was still working at Dunkin' at this time.

'At the end of that summer, I gained 10 pounds and I was like, "whoa, what happened here? I haven't been dong anything different except for getting coffee."

'That next time I went to work, I turned around that nutrition label, and I saw with my very own eyes, that a pump was 33 grams of sugar.'

Ryan added: 'According to their website, there isn't that much sugar in there, so maybe the recipe has changed.

'But from what I know there are 33 grams of sugar in each pump of the swirls.'

The former Dunkin' employee concluded: 'If the reason that you don't like Dunkin' iced coffee is because it's too sweet, that is exactly why - there's so much sugar in their coffee.

'Just ask for like one pump of the swirl, or they have the other flavors like other coffee shops do, that have way less sugar in it.

'So do with that information what you will and enjoy your coffee.'

Ryan's video was quickly flooded with comments as many viewers rushed to share their shock at the amount of sugar they were unknowingly consuming.

One person wrote: 'My heart just broke.'

Another person added: 'Now why would you tell me this?'

A third person commented: 'Woah, woah, woah. I am officially switching to sugar- free.'

Someone else wrote: 'Omg, I get Dunkin like at least three times a week. Thank you for this info.'

Another added: 'GIRL this is life changing info. I KNEW IT WAS TOO SWEET TO BE HOW MUCH SUGAR THEY CLAIM!!!'

One person commented: 'NO YOU ARE JOOOOOOOKING.'

Another person added: 'PER PUMP?? Omg I always get medium iced caramel coffee - one cream and its good, but had no idea it was 100 grams of sugar!! I might as well get a soda - it'll be less sugar than that.'

Ryan responded: 'I worked there almost 10 years ago, so my info is a little out dated! It's about 12 grams per pump now, but still 36 grams for a medium is almost the same as soda.'

Others claiming to also be Dunkin' employees joined the comments too as one person wrote: 'Also former employee. The amount of people who'd get 10 pumps was crazy.'

Another person added: 'Doing god's work! I'm a barista too, and I always feel like I need to let people know that they're literally starting off their days with 100+ grams of sugar.'

Many commenters claimed that they gained weight just like Ryan, due to consuming the drink regularly.

One person wrote: 'I gained legit 20 pounds from my butter pecan iced coffees. Now I only drink [it] as an occasional treat.'

A second person commented: 'I GAINED SO MUCH WEIGHT DRINKING DUNKIN FOR A SEMESTER…'

Another added: 'Thank you cause I was getting Dunkin' everyday for months, and wondered why I was gaining weight all of a sudden.'

Another viewer added: 'I was such a Dunkin girl in college and then a little bit after. The weight gain for me tracks with this info.'

Ryan responded: 'Yes!! I stopped drinking it and immediately lost everything I gained.'

Other followers shared that they have turned to alternatives.

One person wrote: 'That's why I get sugar-free pumps.'

A second person added: 'This is why I make my coffee at home.'

Another commented: 'I love Dunkin, but this is why I limit it [so much].'

One person thought otherwise and commented: 'If it makes you happy, then that's all that matters!! Everything is good in moderation and coffee with sugar nourishes the soul.'

Ryan responded: '100 per cent!! Drinking it everyday was not moderation. I was treating myself everyday.'
