He confirmed his son's death on X, writing: 'It is with grief that I share the sudden death of my son, Luis Alfredo Pacheco Rojas, who lived outside of the country.
'The incident is being investigated by authorities. I appreciated the support of my friends and colleagues during this difficult time.'
The younger Pacheco, 34, was a nightclub DJ in Texas and also had a music career, known by his stage name, 'El Pikante.'
Houston police stated a 34-year-old man was among the victims of an ambush Monday, after the black SUV the four victims were riding in pulled up a gas station in the Southeastern part of the city around 7:16 p.m.
The men went inside to make a purchase, and when they returned to the Escalade, the SUV was bookended by two vehicles, preventing the Escalade from fleeing.
Two men with long guns got out of each car and began firing into the luxury SUV.
Two of the victims inside the Escalade tried to seek cover in the gas station, but one was shot on his way inside, while another victim - who was armed - made inside the store and was shot anyway.
It's unknown whether the armed victim was able to fire back.
The identity of the victim who died at a local hospital has not been released. A second man was injured and remains at Hermanm Memorial Hospital.
The four gunmen got in their cars and escaped, but investigators have released images of them from surveillance video.
It's unclear where the other two passengers of the Escalade are now or what led to this, but police are calling this a 'targeted' attack.
Pacheco, who did not follow his father into the word of politics, had lived in Atlanta for several years before moving to Houston, according to Spanish media outlets.
