House Freedom Caucus Chair Bob Good is in a fierce battle for re-election with an opponent gaining traction among members of Congress on a 'revenge tour' to get him out of office.
Rep. Good (R-Va.) was one of the Republicans who voted to remove House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in October – and he is now facing opposition from members of the GOP who disagreed with removing the former speaker.
John McGuire, meanwhile, is gunning for Good's seat and has earned the backing of some high-profile lawmakers in Congress including Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Good claims, however, it isn't necessarily a positive thing to have more support from the 'swamp' than those in the district and highlighted a lengthy list of his backers in Virginia's 5th district.
Good's campaign manager told DailyMail.com that McGuire is being used as a 'puppet' for those in D.C. who are on a 'revenge campaign' against Good after he joined seven other Republicans in voting to oust former McCarthy.
Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good's reelection campaign in Virginia's 5th Congressional District exhibits the fractures in the Republican Party as those aligned with former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy launch a 'revenge campaign' against those who voted him out
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (left), who didn't want McCarthy booted and was herself ousted from the Freedom Caucus, is backing John McGuire's (right) bid to unseat Rep. Good
And the congressman's campaign says the revenge tour isn't working.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is among the lawmakers outside of Virginia looking to bolster McGuire's bid to unseat Good - and she isn't shy about her thoughts on her right-wing colleague.
'He is the biggest backstabber,' she told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview this week.
Greene's vendetta against Good and his Freedom Caucus stems from the some 50-member group's vote to boot her from the group her behind her back. She was also aligned with McCarthy.
She noted that Good took around $2 million in his 2022 election from a McCarthy-aligned super PAC, the Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), then turned around and voted to kick the California Republican out of the top House job.
'That is an incredible amount of money, and then turn around, stabs him in the back and votes to vacate him as speaker. This is a pattern of behavior,' Greene said.
'I think people in Bob Good's district need to understand what a liar and backstabber Bob Good is,' she went on.

Greene filed a motion last month to vacate new House Speaker Mike Johnson after Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, who endorsed Good, used the same tactic to get McCarthy out in October.
House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) went out to campaign for McGuire in the June 18 House primary in Virginia.
Despite formerly campaigning for Good and promising last year not to run against the conservative leader for his House seat, McGuire launched a bid and is selling himself as the more pro-Trump candidate.
'He's met President Trump and President Trump happens to like him,' Greene, who is in frequent contact with the former president, said of McGuire.
Membership in the Freedom Caucus was once the pinnacle of conservative bonafides. Now, a firestorm from Trump's inner circle can threaten to oust even the staunchest of right-wing devotees.
'My constituents know and trust me. They know I represent them and their interests, not the DC Swamp's interests,' Good told DailyMail.com when questioned on his challenger. 'The people of VA-5 want a fighter with a backbone, not empty promises from just another politician who is constantly seeking another office.'
'I'm honored to have the support of countless local leaders whom I'm proud to serve and work with to restore our nation to its founding vision and to improve the lives of our constituents.'
DailyMail.com can exclusively share two new endorsements Good picked up recently – House Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) and Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.).

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) tops the list of high-profile endorsements for Good, but other lawmakers include Republican Reps. Matt Gaetz and Byron Donalds of Florida; Scott Perry of Pennsylvania; Eli Crane of Arizona; John Brecheen of Oklahoma; and Andrew Clyde of Georgia.
Fellow Virginia Rep. Ben Cline is also backing the Freedom Caucus chief.
Good also boasts a long list of endorsements from local leaders in his Virginia district including three sheriffs, 15 chairs and four vice chairs of different county GOPs in his district, five school board members and a handful of other county board members.
McGuire's team did not provide DailyMail.com with a list of his endorsements, but in the district where he is running his backing appears slim.
The limited list includes one county board of supervisors chairman for Campbell county, two former county supervisors for the same county, Lynchburg Mayor Stephanie Reed, who is an independent, and one sheriff from Buckingham County.
Good's campaign highlighted that McGuire appears to have more support in the D.C. 'swamp' than in the district he wants to represent.
The 'swamp' endorsements Good's campaign are referencing include Reps. Greene, Rogers, Derrick Van Orden (R-Minn.) and Austin Scott (R-Ga.).
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a close ally and former advisor to Trump, also endorsed McGuire.
Good's Campaign Manager Diana Shores accused McCarthy and his allies of propping up McGuire's candidacy as retribution.
She told DailyMail.com: 'Our opponent is simply a willing puppet for the Washington Establishment to use for their revenge campaign against Congressman Good, who is fighting for and standing up for his constituents every single day.'
But Good will also have to contend with his record in the 2024 presidential race.
The Virginia Republican originally endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis - a disloyalty Trump is not known to take lightly. Good only endorsed Trump minutes after DeSantis ended his presidential campaign.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), who also endorsed DeSantis' presidential bid and is now backing Good, told DailyMail.com: 'Enthusiasm for Bob Good runs deep among Virginians outside of the beltway.'
'[H]e is a proven America First conservative who irritates all the right beltway people by daring to do what he said he would do,' Roy claimed, adding: 'We need more Bob Goods in Congress.'
A Facebook post from November 2016 showed Good saying Trump was 'about my 17th choice out of 17' in the Republican primary and noted that he had supported Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, but would vote Trump since the alternative was Hillary Clinton.
'Bob Good won't be electable when we get done with him,' Chris LaCivita, Trump's campaign manager, told Cardinal News in January.
But so far, the embattled Virginia congressman is safe from a Trump onslaught, and the former president is staying mum on the race for Virginia's 5th district.
Still, Good earned the support of former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
To combat some rising backing for McGuire, Good held a Freedom Tour event in his district last week with a stacked line-up of endorsers.
Meadows, as well as Reps. Gaetz, Clyde, Roy, Andy Biggs (R-Az.) are just a few of the lawmakers who came to Virginia to support Bob Good's re-election campaign.
