A newly installed 'anti-climb' portion of the border wall near San Diego appears to be working, making it much more difficult for migrants to get over the barrier and resulting in at least three migrants falling in recent days, DailyMail.com can reveal.

A local organization documented one of the falls, when a migrant man who was trying to climb over fell.

A clip shows him laid on the ground motionless as Border Patrol agents waited for an ambulance to arrive.

'He's in a lot of pain; he's hurt,' narrated Dan Watman of Friends of Friendship Park in the March 16 clip.

'I don't know what he's injuries are...but they explained to me they don't want to touch him because they do, they could make the injury worse. If it's back or spine, you could make it worse.'

At least two others have been injured since the measures were added to make the wall insurmountable starting in February, Watman told DailyMail.com Wednesday.

Ten days ago, the US Border Patrol installed the last of an 'anti-climb' portion of the border wall near San Diego, California, that's meant to to stop illegal immigrants from scaling the wall.

Thirty-foot tall steel sections of the wall have replaced shorter and older portions of Friendship Park near San Diego.

The park, which includes a garden and monument, straddles both side the US and Mexico and is a stone's throw form the Pacific Ocean.

It has been a popular crossing spot for migrants looking to sneak into the country.

More people will die as a result of an anti-climb portion of the border wall near San Diego, where at many as three people have already fallen

'If it stops people from trying to go over the wall, there will probably be more people trying to cross in the ocean,' Watman added.

'My idea is that it's not going to stop people; it's just going to make it more dangerous.'

Even before the anti-climb feature was added to the border wall, there has been a spike in the amount of drownings in southern California as migrants tried to swim around the barrier- which extends 200 feet into the ocean.

Last year, local lifeguards rescued 41 migrants out of the water, compared to just five in 2020 before the border crisis began, reported KPBS

The metal additions meant to stop climbing are a prototype will be replicated in other areas of the southern border if they are deemed successful, according to the Border Report

The US Border Patrol did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Migrants often use holes or other openings in the wall to come through the wall, Watman, explained, adding the new structure won't be immune to that.
