Willie Gay Jr., a former Kansas City Chief and teammate of Rashee Rice, defended the wide receiver over social media Thursday after Rice's role in the multiple-vehicle car crash over the weekend became clear.

Rice has come under fire for being the driver of a Lamborghini involved in a major highway accident in Dallas last Saturday.

Witnesses reported Rice and others left the scene of the crash without checking on any of the other victims.

The crash involved six vehicles on Saturday, which injured at least four people and left multiple vehicles damaged, per local police.

Rice's interview with the Dallas Police Department on Wednesday is believed to be the first time he spoke with authorities on the incident.

'A GREAT person; s***, we all make mistakes and have to learn from our actions as a part of growing up. We believe in Gods grace forget what a man says,' Gay said on social media.

Gay signed a one year contract with the New Orleans Saints last month, after overlapping with Rice for one season in Kansas City.

Dallas PD have confirmed its investigation of the accident is ongoing.

The two cars speeding in the incident, a Lamborghini Urus and a Chevrolet Corvette are registered, leased, or were rented to him.

Rice is originally from North Richland Hills, Texas, a Dallas suburb and played college football at Southern Methodist University, who recently joined the ACC.

The 23-year-old is understood to have leased the Lamborghini from a company called Classic Lifestyle. The rental agency alleges that his lease agreement states he is the only person allowed to drive the vehicle.

Multiple vehicles spun or flipped in the air, per the Dallas Morning News, while Quinn saw someone from a Lamborghini pulled another victim out of a Corvette.

Quinn told the DMN a pair of white cleats were left in the back of the Lamborghini. She also said another witness saw guns and bags taken from the vehicles before the five men left the scene.

'No one stopped,' Quinn said to the DMN. 'We had children, like, we had kids, you know what I’m saying? It’s the fact that there was no sympathy shown to where y’all can even have the decency to stop and check to make sure someone’s OK, someone’s alive, you know?'

Rice did post a statement about the incident on social media.

'Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday's accident,' Rice said.

'I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday's accident,' Rice continued.
