Katy Perry suffered a backstage wardrobe malfunction at American Idol this week when she got stuck in her scarlet gown.

The 39-year-old pop act wowed viewers during the broadcast in a $7,400 Bottega Veneta dress that plunged to flaunt her voluptuous assets.

However, in a new Instagram video, she revealed that the high-octane glamour of the look became a liability once she got to her dressing room.

In the video, Katy could be seen glumly sitting in a chair with her dress hoisted upward, after trying and failing to wriggle her way out of it.

'I can't get this dress off,' she groaned, and when a crew member suggested they 'cut it off,' she sighed: 'You can't just...cut Bottega....'

Katy demonstrated her devotion to the designer label in her caption as well, joking: 'We’ve been cutting kids on #idol but you can’t cut bottega.'

The Bottega Veneta frock, which buyers can snatch up on Net-a-Porter for a cool $7,400, featured a pleated skirt and a raised lapel.

She recently announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that she is leaving American Idol after this season, which is her seventh on the show.

Last year, she was frequently raked over the coals online and accused of 'bullying' because of her spiky on-air remarks to contestants.

DailyMail.com exclusively reported then that she was on the brink of quitting the ABC reality show, feeling she was 'thrown under the bus by producers' who positioned her to be the 'nasty judge' on the series.

Katy's latest American Idol wardrobe malfunction came two years after she went viral for accidentally splitting her leather trousers while filming the program.

At the time, she was delivering a rendition of her old hit Teenage Dream alongside her fellow American Idol judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

Her costume included a pair of skintight red leather trousers, which dramatically tore apart while she was whirling through her choreography.

However, in a new Instagram video, she revealed that the high-octane glamour of the look became a liability once she got to her dressing room

Katy called for a help, and a few crew members arrived with tape to help her cover up the affected area and continue with the show.

On the personal front, Katy has spent the last eight years with Hollywood dreamboat Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares her three-year-old daughter Daisy.

Orlando's sartorial choices went viral in 2016 when pictures emerged of him totally nude while paddle-boarding with Katy off the coast of Sardinia.

Katy later revealed on The Kyle And Jackie O Show that Orlando had wanted her to go naked for the paddle-boarding excursion too but she was 'not in the mood.'

When the photos surfaced, social media went into a frenzy over the size of Orlando's manhood, but a few years later he assured Howard Stern: 'It is really not that big.'

Appearing on the shock jock's radio program, Orlando explained: 'Things are expanded on cameras with a big optical lens. It is an optical illusion.'

Orlando gamely recalled: 'The publicist called to say: "That is not the worst of it. First of all there were pictures with a block over it."'

He went on: 'And you make some jokes like: "Have you got a black box big enough to cover it?" And then you suddenly realize somebody is going to uncover the black box because they are going to be paid enough. It’s a triple whammy – photos, black box then no black box.'
