Apple TV's glamorous new hit show 'Palm Royale' provides a glimpse into the gilded but conniving world of Palm Beach high society in 1969 - but who were the real women to dominate the social scene that year?

The posh beach city played host to some of the wealthiest and most iconic Americans of the time, including Estée Lauder, Marjorie Merriweather Post and Noreen Drexel.

Now, stunning time-capsule images carefully preserved in the state archive now provide a peek behind the curtain at what life was really like for those on the scene as they dressed to the nines in floor-length colorful print gowns and draped themselves in extravagant jewelry.

For many, these powerful women were the original Palm Beach influencers - but rather than parading their outfits on TikTok like residents today, they relied on glittering parties, galas and charity balls to showcase their style.

Many of images were taken at exclusive locations such as Worth Avenue and Royal Poinciana Plaza, with high-society chronicler Bert Morgan capturing a host of events including a March 1969 gala to benefit St. Mary's Hospital at the Everglades Club in Palm Beach and a Red Cross fundraiser at The Breakers.

Her father was the German Vice Consul in the US. The well-connected woman was also a debutante and member of the Grosvenor Ball committee, according to a New York Times wedding announcement.

Also at the fashion show was Mary Obolensky, a former FBI worker and later dedicated philanthropist including support of the Russian Nobility Association and Cancer and Blood Foundation.

Obolensky also established the Mary Obolensky Underwood Foundation for Leukemia Research before her death in 2006.

There is also a relaxed image of Eugenie Marron with Alwin Franz and Edwin B. Coleman on the elite shopping street of Worth Avenue where designers such as Chanel hold storefronts.

Marron, a New York socialite who set world records as a pioneering deep-sea fisherwoman, dazzled in bright red slacks and matching top with a Peter Pan collar.

Marron became the first woman to catch a giant blue fin, according to her obituary.

So what would these icons think of today's Palm Beach style?

Instead of making the guest list for a charity benefit at the Breakers, the modern social status symbol is being featured on the city's unofficial best dressed list - the social media account 'Class of Palm Beach'.

Class of Palm Beach, which has amassed millions of views on TikTok, parades the town's best dressed and asks them where they bought their chic outfits from.

The wildly-popular social media page is the brainchild of one Millennial resident, who often found herself stopping wealthy people on the street and asking which designer shops they had bought their clothes and accessories from.

Some Palm Beachers have become so determined to make an appearance on the account - which has 672,000 followers - that they wait on the busiest avenue for hours in the hopes of being noticed by the page's in-demand admin, DailyMail.com previously reported.
