Furious millionaire homeowners in a luxury California town have sparked fury by blocking a stunning public hiking trail with rocks because hikers parked outside their mansions.
Residents of Montecito received angry letters from Santa Barbara County after they passive aggressively placed boulders along the roads outside their mansions.
The homeowners were trying to ward off visitors of the stunning trail nearby their homes that leads to hidden-gem hot springs who had been parking on their street.
On March 18, the county posted letters at the properties of 11 homeowners living on East Mountain Drive and Riven Rock Road.
The letters demanded that the wealthy residents remove the obstructions within 10 days because the roads are a 'public right of way.'

County officials then demanded that the angry homeowners must apply for an encroachment permit, which is required for anyone who wants to make any encroachment along or on any county road.
'We are currently working with residents to permit items that can remain and remove items that need to be removed,' Lael Wageneck, a spokesperson for the county's public works department, told SFGATE.
Santa Barbara County faced a similar issue in 2022, when four homeowners sued the county for its plan to create 62 new parking spots near the trailhead.
