Several homes in California's Newport Beach were yellow-tagged by officials after a landslide hit the cliff behind the properties.

Horrifying drone footage shows the aftermath of the landslide with homes teetering on the edge of the steep cliffs.

Yellow tags indicate that the area or property is hazardous and potentially dangerous to be inside or near.

A landslide happened in the same Newport Beach neighborhood, where homes are worth millions of dollars, last year that was so severe it led to the demolition of a home.

No damage to the actual buildings was reported this time around, but residents were advised to enter their houses only to collect their belongings and then steer clear of the area, although it's unclear how long they were told to stay away for.

The three homes on Galaxy Drive overlooking the back bay were most affected by the landslide and have been left without backyards due to the dirt and debris that slid down the cliff.

The home in the center of the three houses faired the worst during Thursday's 4 am landslide, KTLA5 reported.

City officials are now working with the concerned homeowners to prevent further damages that could arise from landslides.

A newly-renovated home in California's exclusive Hollywood Hills also fell victim to yet another landslide in the area that caused $500,000 worth of damage.

Marc Verbena, the homeowner, was told on Wednesday evening that the home he has been remodeling for over a year had been buried by a collapsing hillside.

In footage from after the landslide, one home can be seen covered in dirt and debris that is piled all the way to the roof of them property.

His home was just one week away from being done with construction when the landslide hit - leaving his home damaged and destroyed.

'We have dirt inside the kitchen, inside the bedroom,' Verbena told ABC7. 'The roof is about to collapse. I mean major, major damages.'

Verbena is now seeking help from the government to lessen the financial burden of the natural disaster - which he thinks could cost over $500,000 to sort out.

'We won't be able to move in,' Verbena said. 'We have to keep staying at another place, and then rebuilding that hill is going to be hundreds of thousands of dollars which we don't have. So I really don't know at this point what's going to happen. We're in a bad spot.'

He said that the landslide was totally unexpected and that there have been mudslides in the past but nothing of this intensity.

'We had a few mudslides, but nothing like this,' he said. 'Nothing like this. This is enormous.'

Luckily, nobody was injured during the terrifying landslide.

This is not the first incident of land movement in California damaging buildings and homes.

A row of million-dollar mansions in California were red-tagged in March after a landslide damaged the luxurious properties

The homes, located on Flicker Way in Hollywood Hills, were impacted by significant soil movement in the area on Sunday, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Three homes were tagged by Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety officials due to the threat of a landslide that took place behind the homes.

The collapsed hill, full of debris and mud, has shifted and trickled down to the luxury properties - making them unsafe to inhabit, according to authorities.

No rescues were required and no injuries have been reported as the latest landslide emerged due to severely wet weather across the area.

A 'red-tagged' structure means that the home has been severely damaged to the extent that it is too dangerous to inhabit - resulting in a red posted on the property.

No evacuations were ordered and engineering crews were assessing the structural integrity of the homes - the only three set on the cliffside.

Residents of the affected properties were advised to remain vigilant, and prepare for the looming possibility of relocation.

The three affected homes are now largely left at the mercy of Mother Nature, though rains that recently inundated the region look to have past. They are priced around $12.8 million, $13 million, and $15.9 million, and are at risk of falling into the Pacific.
