It's the start of another Major League Baseball season and somehow, some way, Angel Hernandez is still employed as an umpire.
He reminded everyone of how bad he was almost immediately in Sunday's Yankees-Blue Jays game when he called Gleyber Torres out on an amazingly awful strike-three call in the first inning.
Toronto pitcher Bowden Francis was on the mound when he appeared to step back and off the rubber. He looked down at his foot and realized his error, but proceeded to deliver a pitch anyway as he wasn't called for a balk.
Torres, thinking that this was a dead pitch, stepped back and didn't attempt to swing at the ball. The pitch landed about three-to-five inches above the zone, which Hernandez shockingly called a strike three.
Torres pled his case, Yankees manager Aaron Boone came out and began arguing with Hernandez saying that there's no way the strike should have counted after the pitcher stepped off the rubber, and Hernandez didn't relent - telling Torres to sit down.

Angel Hernandez calls it a strike anyway - despite the fact that it's a dead pitch that missed the zone by about three inches too high. Gleyber Torres (25) is seen protesting the out.

Out came the boo birds in The Bronx, who also let out with a chorus of 'F**k you Angel' directed at the home plate umpire.
Just to make sure that both sides were screwed over in this situation, Hernandez called a sinker from Blue Jays pitcher Timothy Mayza a ball - even though it was quite perfectly down the middle of the plate and well in the zone.
All sides couldn't believe how awful Hernandez had been, with people once again calling for his job on social media.
'This should be Angel Hernandez’s last game. Enough already,' wrote New York Post baseball writer Jon Heyman on Twitter.
'There’s no way this is allowed right? You can’t step off and then just go into your windup immediately and throw a pitch. Also what an awful strike call by Angel Hernandez,' wrote another user.
Baseball fans were up in arms after the incident, saying Hernandez should be fired from MLB
Another user said, 'Angel Hernandez is the worst umpire/official/ref in professional sports. Tell me I'm wrong.'
'This gotta be the most Angel Hernandez clip I’ve ever seen,' reads another post. 'The pitcher steps off, instantly steps back on the mound to throw a pitch, throws a ball & somehow Torres gets rung up… How is this guy still employed?'
Another person posted, 'absolutely hilarious how Angel Hernandez friggin biffs it literally every game he works. you think “he can’t possibly sit on his balls today” and then he immediately sits on his balls. remarkable.'
'Angel Hernandez is an embarrassment to baseball and anyone who actually takes pride in being good at their job The man should never be allowed near a baseball field or diamond of any type ever again,' said another user.
The Yankees went on to beat the Blue Jays 8-3.
