The TikTok video with input from her Gen Alpha daughter led to a conversation about what makeup trends reveal
'So my daughter just told me that eyeshadow is a Gen X and millennial thing,' Jennifer said in the now viral video, before adding, 'aka an old lady thing.'
Her daughter sat next to her laughing, while Jennifer questioned if eyeshadow was over.
'Is that true?' she questioned.
'Ok my Gen Z, is eyeshadow out?' Jennifer captioned the video.
'Gen Z here uhhh idk (I don't know) who told her that,' one popular comment read, as another person agreed, 'Gen Z absolutely does eyeshadow whatt??'
One commenter explained, 'As oldest Gen Z, no, eyeshadow isn't out. People just use less colors and more simple looks, but they do wear eyeshadow.'
Others were sure her daughter was actually Gen Alpha, commenting, 'She's a Gen Alpha I'm pretty sure,' as according to Jennifer's Instagram, she's only 11.
'When I was a kid I also considered eye shadow an old lady thing. Because children don't wear make up,' a commenter announced.
Many Gen Z commenters said they proudly wore eyeshadow and one wrote, 'I'm Gen Z and I was 16/17 during the 2016 makeup era lol so no it's not a old lady thing'
Many Gen Z commenters said they proudly wore eyeshadow, as one wrote, 'I'm Gen Z and I was 16/17 during the 2016 makeup era lol so no it's not a old lady thing it's just not currently on trend.'
Others questioned Gen Z's fashion taste, with one person writing, 'lol they are also wearing barrel jeans right now sooo,' referencing the pants that balloon out towards the bottom.
Makeup artist Erica stitched the video and said, 'Okay friends, so here's the hard truth. We can still do shadow... but we can't do this,' before pointing to her heavily made up eye, which had black eyeliner, light eyeshadow above it, a dark crease, and then shimmer near the brow.
Erica, who's a L'Oréal Paris makeup artist and an expert on beauty tips for women over 40, described the dark shadow around the edge of her eye as the 'dreaded V' and said, 'That is what dates us.'
Instead, she told her followers to try a 'more modern take,' which she calls a 'sunrise,' using a rose gold shadow for a more lively vibe versus the taupe lid.
She then swapped black eyeliner for a bronze eyeliner that's softer and easier to blend for a lift instead of a V.
To emulate Gen Z makeup, instead of lining her waterline, she lines around the eye to meet the end and then smudges out the liner.

Jennifer shared a follow-up video and said: 'I know you guys are really passionate about eyeshadow'
Many commenters on her makeup tutorial questioned why millennials would care what the younger generation thought about their beauty routine.
'Gen Z is wearing the exact clothes I did in the 90s. I refuse to let them question our taste,' one millennial commenter snarked.
'Do we actually care if Gen Z judges us for eyeshadow?' another asked.
Many people commented on how cyclical beauty trends are, with one writing, 'And in five minutes, the light dark light triangle will be fashionable again.'
Jennifer shared a follow-up video and said: 'I know you guys are really passionate about eyeshadow.'
'We will defend eyeshadow to the end of our days,' she joked, showing off her go-to product.
