Hoda Kotb has admitted that she has the tendency to 'explode' when she gets 'pushed too far' and even has an 'evil twin' who makes a 'rare' appearance on certain occasions when she is particularly irked.
During a candid conversation with her Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager, the 59-year-old TV star revealed that her 'alter ego' is called Helen and has left her nearest and dearest stunned when they've met her.
The two hosts were discussing Zendaya's recent comments in an interview with British Vogue, where she explained that she transforms into a 'different being' on red carpets, which led Jenna, 42, to ask Hoda: 'Do you have an alter ego?'
'I think I do,' Hoda replied. 'My alter ego is my evil twin. Her name is Helen,' to which Jenna responded: 'I don't think I've met Helen yet,' as Hoda quickly informed her: 'You haven't, it's rare. I'm kind of a rare Mount Etna exploder. It's not often but when it happens, I've had a few people who've said, "oh my gosh, who are you?"'

When Jenna asked about Helen's 'attributes', Hoda divulged: 'Helen doesn't care, she just blows up and she says exactly what is happening and when she gets pushed too far...
'You know how nice people are like, "she's okay, she won't mind, she's okay, she won't mind..." probably on like the fourth or fifth one, Helen appears and then she minds!
'And so then that person thinks, "wow I don't think I knew you", but you do, you're just actually seeing a tiny, not great part of me,' Hoda explained.
Defending her alter ego, the mother-of-two added: 'I think we all can't be consistent all the time, you have to sometimes lose it,' as Jenna joked: 'And let's put that on Helen's back, that is not you at all, that is Helen!'
Of course, Hoda is known for being one of the happiest and most positive hosts on morning television and always brings her bubbly energy to the TV screen - so talk of her 'evil' side will no doubt come as a shock to her legion of fans.
In fact, Hoda's colleagues have nothing but positive things to say about the brunette star, and last year Jenna told her: 'You make my life more joyful every, single day!'
In a similar birthday post for Hoda in August 2023, her other co-host Savannah Guthrie described her as a 'phenomenal light of a human' while the official Instagram for Today claimed that Hoda's 'energy is contagious'.
Meanwhile, Hoda asked Jenna if she has an alter ego, to which she replied: 'I used to have one after a couple of margaritas, but she's retired!'

Jenna and her twin sister, Barbara Pierce Bush, were famously caught underage drinking during their freshman year of college in 2001. They are pictured in 2004
'Was she the wild one?' Hoda probed, as her married co-host explained: 'Yeah she was the one that danced around... I mean that's still there a little, but she's the one that didn't care about bed.
'She was the young one who was like, "sleep when you die!" First of all I hate that, why wouldn't you sleep when you live? But that type of attitude like, "let's go out all night long"... she retired!'
Hoda then teased: 'But sometimes she's still the last one at the party,' as Jenna defended herself and claimed: 'Very rarely,' before adding: 'But this person who took it up a couple of notches, she's gone.'
It's no secret that back in 2001, Jenna was arrested along with her twin sister Barbara for possessing alcohol underage and for using a fake ID - just months after their father George W. Bush was sworn into office as President.
Jenna touched on the incident during an episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna in November 2023 and explained: 'I didn't actually go to jail. I just was arrested — I wasn't even arrested,' as Hoda then jokingly asked if she was 'detained.'
'I was never detained,' she continued. 'I just got a minor in possession of alcohol when I was 20 years old because I ordered a margarita at Chuy's with a fake ID.
'The waitress called me in. She didn't like my dad. But also, to her credit, that was dumb. I mean, my dad was the president.'
