The president's sit-down with Spanish language Univision comes as a new poll shows his 'favorability' lead over Trump diminishing at a time when battlegrounds in Arizona and Nevada could tip control of the White House and Senate

In the first clip to be released, Biden got asked what was the greatest threat to democracy and freedom – and turned immediately to Trump.

'Donald Trump talked, uses  phrases like if you're going to eviscerate the Constitution, you're gonna be a dictator on Day One,' he said.

That was a reference to Trump's 2022 quote calling for 'the termination of all rules ... even those found in the Constitution' and his comment in an interview about being a 'dictator for a day.' Then he took on Trump for watching television during the Capitol riot and his continued embrace of January 6 defendants.

'The idea that he would sit in the office – and I'll show you before you leave – off the Oval Office, and watch for hours, the attack on the Capitol, and the destruction and the mayhem and people who were killed a police officers who died, and call them political heroes?' Biden said. 'Call them patriots?  And saying that if he gets elected, he's going to free them all because they're being held illegally.

'Think of the things he says look at  the way he we talks about minority populations and Hispanics and our talking about them being ... anyway, I can't think of any other time in my lifetime in history that's occurred, that you've had somebody who's had this kind of attitude, he says I'm gonna be a dictator on day one. No one doesn't believe him,' he said.

Biden's interview comes as Trump has made inroads with a network he used to loudly clash with following its merger with Televisa in 2022.

A new Axios / Ipsos poll in partnership with Noticias Telemundo shows Biden’s shrinking favorability advantage over Trump Biden's edge with Hispanics on general favorability is shrinking.

In March, Biden's favorability rating was 41, a nine-point lead over Trump's 32 rating. Back in June of 2023, Biden was at 47 percent favorability and Trump was at 29.

Trump wrote last month that one of his 'first acts' would be to 'Free the January 6 Hostages being wrongfully imprisoned!' He said last year he would 'most likely' pardon 'a large portion of them.'
