Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns 'could both WITHDRAW from the Masters this week'

Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns are soon-to-be fathers although that could come at the expense of playing at the Masters this weekend due to their very pregnant wives potentially going into labor during the tournament.

According to Todd Lewis, of the Golf Channel, if either player gets a call that their wives are going into labor anytime between Thursday and Sunday then they would immediately pull out of the major and do everything they can to get to hospital.

The Masters starts on April 11 and ends three days later on April 14.

If a guess was to be made between which of the two players would become a dad first, then odds would be in Burns' favor, as his wife, Caroline, is due in less than 10 days.

Scheffler's wife, Meredith, still has three weeks to go until she crosses off her due date on a calendar, according to OutKick.

Neither Burns' wife or Scheffler's wife travelled to Augusta given that their both in their third and final trimester.

Burns lives in small town Choudrant, Louisiana, while Scheffler resides in Dallas, Texas.

Thankfully for both players, who are close friends off the course, neither of their homes are more than a two-and-a-half-hour flight from Augusta if they do end up getting the life-changing call during the tournament.

Scheffler opened Masters week favored by oddsmakers to a degree not seen since Tiger Woods' prime.

The 2022 champion has won two of his past three starts and came a short putt away from forcing a playoff in the third. Scheffler, 27, has a firm grip on the No. 1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking -- and as the favorite ahead of this year's Masters.

He is the consensus +400 favorite at regulated sportsbooks on Monday, including BetMGM, BetRivers and DraftKings. His closest competition at all three is Rory McIlroy, who is +1100 at BetRivers and +1000 at the other two.

Burns, on the other hand, has yet to win in 2024, but he's earned four Top 10 finishes in his eight starts while missing just one cut along the way.
