NFL fans are up in arms after the league announced that one of its opening games will only be broadcast nationally on NBC's streaming service, Peacock.
The league officially announced that the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles will be playing a Friday night game to open up their season in Sao Paulo, Brazil in Week 1.
But the only way to watch the game if you live outside the Green Bay and Philadelphia markets will be on Peacock.
NFL PR representative Brian McCarthy tweeted that local markets will be carrying the game on free, over-the-air broadcast television - but that everywhere else will need the streaming service to watch it.
Fans took to social media and were furious over the announcement.
NFL fans feel stiff-armed by the league after Packers-Eagles will only be shown on Peacock
They took their rage out on social media, blasting the league for its decision
'F**k the fans without Peacock I guess,' wrote one account. 'The true absurdity to having exclusive games astounds me. All about the money and no care for the fans.'
'The NFL insisting on bullying everyone into getting Peacock network is so annoying,' another wrote.
Another user said, 'NFL needs to stop this peacock crap. Still ain’t getting it. Already got YouTube for Sunday ticket. Not getting this also.'
'What the NFL is doing is evil,' an angry fan posted. 'Do not pay for Peacock to watch the game. They will keep doing this until every individual game is pay-per-view. Greedy bastards.'
One fan publicly announced his plans to subvert the broadcast, saying, 'Can’t wait to illegally stream this and give 0 of my dollars to peacock.'
