A Spirit Airlines employee at a Florida airport blew up and cursed at a 'Karen' passenger moaning about her flight.
Video of the incident, shared on TikTok, shows tensions rising as the employee checks a passenger's boarding pass at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
She abruptly asks to take a closer look at the boarding pass and the person filming speculates she may try to stop the angry passenger from boarding her flight.
Reaction was split on whether the passenger was acting like an angry 'Karen' towards a tired employee, or if the worker only had herself to blame and had 'lost the moral high ground'.
The pair angrily walk shoulder to shoulder shortly before the employee declares 'f*** you too' and walks away. The man who posted the video said the passenger ignited the incident but that the Spirit Airlines worker would not drop it.
The employee at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport drew backlash online after she 'lost the moral high ground' in a video that was shared on TikTok Tuesday
The video, which received nearly 8 million views in two days, shows the employee saying 'f*** you too' to the traveler she had a dispute with
'The airline employee then came back and in a way wouldn’t let the passenger walk away. This is a very bad look for #spiritairlines but what do I know,' he wrote.
The employee's outburst comes after a string of bad behavior on planes and in airports by customers and often directed at staff and police.
The video taker claimed the flier said something rude to the Spirit Airlines employee, which prompted her to become a 'Karen.'
'All right, so this Spirit employee was very offended because this lady said something rude to her,' the TikToker narrated. 'I think she’s taking it a little too far, though. I think she’s gonna prevent her from being on the plane, which I think is a little bit of an abuse [of power].'
While the employee began writing down information, she repeatedly told the flier that she wanted to see her boarding pass. The worker walks with the traveler who says she will not miss her plane because of the worker.
The worker continues to walk down the path with the employee taking down the pass' numbers. The confrontation ends with the worker cursing at the customer and walking away.
'I get passengers can be VERY rude but 99% of the people who saw this weren’t privvy to what the passenger may have initially said,' read the TikTok description.
While some claim the customer said something to the employee, there is nothing heard on the video before the cursing. The filmer then asks the woman what she said, the customer just smiles, scoffs and walks away.
Although the filmer claimed the employee started the confrontation, it's unclear what happened before the video started.
Daily Mail has reached out to Spirit Airlines for comment.
Airport officials said they were unable to view the TikTok video due to Florida regulations. The state has banned the social media app on government devices.
According to the video taker, the passenger allegedly began the argument, which resulted in the Spirit Airlines employee getting angry with her
Social media users have debated the matter. Some users have supported the employee while others have been criticizing her
Multiple TikTok users have criticized the Spirit Airline employee for her actions, with a few critics claiming they used to be agents themselves.
'I worked as an agent for five years. Had to quit. It's definitely not for the week,' a TikToker wrote.
Others have been supporting the traveler and have even written about her 'good looks.'
'That woman is gorgeous!!!!!! And she remained calm! She's awesome!' one person wrote.
They added: 'That little stare from the 9sec mark to the 13sec mark - and then towards the end .. she is beautiful!'
One user seemingly didn't care to comment about the video and instead decided to diss Spirit Airlines as a whole.
'I can't fly spirit. all my anger management classes have no prepared me for it,' they wrote.
The viral incident is the latest airport confrontation to make headlines. Many times they involve passengers blowing up at workers or police who come to arrest them.
A woman on board a Spirit Airlines flight departing from Las Vegas had a crazed meltdown on board and screamed the n-word as cops hauled her off the plane
It is unclear what set the meltdown off, but the flight had not yet taken off when the passenger began to cause a scene
Last month, a woman on board a Spirit Airlines flight departing from Las Vegas had a crazed meltdown on board and screamed the n-word as cops tried to haul her off the plane.
In a video from March 23 that has gone viral online, a female passenger sitting on a Spirit Airlines aircraft had an explosive outburst that caused those around her to film and chuckle.
At the beginning of the footage, the frantic woman is shouting 'let this go,' and 'can I do that with freedom?' as cops try to diffuse the situation. 'All I care about is freedom,' she screeched.
The explosive meltdown happened after she allegedly tried to bite the person sitting next to her.
As one of the officers informed her that she was under arrest, the passenger said 'that's fine! I've been there before.'
She then scanned the surrounding passengers with crazy eyes before chaotically screaming, 'I'm not scared! I've been there before,' as she stood up to stare down the people sitting in the row behind her.
All of a sudden, the woman upped her volume even more to tell passengers that the cop, who she shockingly called the n-word, was twisting her elbows.
'He's hurting my wrist,' she wailed.
'You're hurting me sheriff. You're hurting me sheriff,' she cried while the cops tried to place her in handcuffs.
The frantic passenger then tipped her head back and screamed in distress.
She then proceeded to say 'I can't breathe' twice, despite the cops barely touching her.
It is unclear what set the meltdown off, but the flight had not yet taken off when the passenger began to cause a scene. The man who posted the video said that all the passengers had to deplane so that the cops could deal with the woman.
Tiffany Gomas, 38, was flying to join her family on a vacation in July when she lost it on the flight due to an 'altercation' in what she had now described as 'the worst moment' of her entire life
'It was not my best moment … it was actually a horrible moment. Absolutely mortifying. How horribly mortifying,' she said
There was also the viral Tiffany Gomas incident on an American Airlines flight in 2003.
Gomas, 38, was flying to join her family on a vacation in July when she lost it on the flight due to an 'altercation' in what she had now described as 'the worst moment' of her entire life.
The Dallas marketing executive told Inside Edition that when she said the other passenger was 'not real' - she meant it as a figure of speech, meaning 'he's not being real'.
Gomas revealed that she stayed at home for over four weeks after her crazed meltdown.
'I stayed at home for over four weeks because I was so ashamed and so embarrassed I didn't wanna go in public,' Gomas told Inside Edition.
When asked what sparked the sudden outburst - Gomas said 'I had an altercation and I felt very strongly that I needed to get off the plane'.
She explained that she believed other people on the flight were in danger 'due to the altercation' - but said she couldn't say anything more for 'legal reasons'.
Gomas has proved she has a good sense of humor since her episode. 'I got through this whole thing laughing at myself,' she said.
As she watched the viral video of her meltdown, she joked 'I can't hear that voice'.
The star of the famous video said 'I'm actually a big home body' as she showed Inside Edition her luxurious home in Dallas - complete with a stunning home office and movie theatre.
But despite being a self-proclaimed 'home-body' she said 'I love to travel - just not on American' - because American Airlines banned her after the incident.
