Which celebs have had the 'Biden facelift'? Top plastic surgeons spill all

Top plastic surgeons have revealed the celebrities who've had the same facelift President Joe Biden is heavily rumored to have undergone.

The POTUS, 81, is reported to have had several cosmetic procedures to tighten and lift the skin on his face and remove wrinkles and bags, as well as hair transplants. 

Neither the White House nor anyone in Biden's camp has ever confirmed those reports, however.

Dr Raja Mohan, a plastic surgeon in Texas , told DailyMail.com that the work was done using 'outdated techniques' from 'ten, 15 years ago, when a lot of surgeons just did the same thing for everybody.'

He claimed these techniques leave hallmarks which are easy for plastic surgeons to notice — such as the skin being overly smooth, a lack of sideburns, and 'scarring' around the ears where incision was made.

With these things in mind, Dr Mohan and two other plastic surgeons have revealed the other celebrities who he believes have received this style of cosmetic surgery.

Barry Manilow

Barry Manilow also came up on the surgeons list. Like Biden, they also pointed to the skin bunching around the eyes to suggest a facelift

Another celebrity to enter the list was singer Barry Manilow, who rose to fame in the 1970s with songs such as 'Mandy' and 'Copacabana'.

In 2012, he appeared with a puffy face, and then in 2014, he went on TV with what the media then termed a 'surprisingly taut face'.

Dr Gary Motykie, a plastic surgeon to the stars in Hollywood, suggested he likely had a facelift, saying: 'There are scars evident on his face around the ear from the surgery, and there is some pulling on the earlobes too.

'The sideburns appearance, they are strange looking — so not sure if he grafted them or what happened.'

The surgeon also pointed to the skin bunching around the eyes, in a similar way to Biden's, to suggest a one-size-fits-all facelift. 

Earlobes can end up pulled after facelifts because of the tugging from repositioned skin and the muscular layer underneath. Scars can also emerge by the earlobes caused by the skin pulling tightly after the facelift.

In modern surgies, this can be minimized via not pulling the skin so tight that it causes tension and preserving tissue around the earlobes to help them keep their shape.

'When I look at him, it looks like he was really overdone,' Dr Motykie added, suggesting he had also had fillers. 'The reason it got so much attention was that it was so drastic or extreme.'

Barry has previously appeared on TV saying it is 'tiresome' to keep hearing about work he may or may not have had done.

He has previously admitted to surgery to have his jowls reduced, which plastic surgeons say would be a facelift. 

Joan Rivers

Comedian Joan Rivers once joked she had had more than 700 plastic surgeries. Surgeons said her facelift was similar to Biden's, also pointing to tighter skin around the eyes and taught skin across the side of the face

The late Joan Rivers, a famous comedian, also had a Biden-style facelift, the surgeons said.

Dr Mohan said: 'She looked very overdone, her eyelids had been pulled up so much that they looked like cat eyes.

'Her skin was so tight too, too tight, she didn't even have like a normal smile by the end.'

Dr Motykie added: 'She also has skin overpulled in some areas. Through the years, you can see the changes.'

The surgeons said that the 'cat eyes' were reminiscent of one-size-fits-all because her skin had been pulled too tight, suggesting too much was removed and it was tugged too tightly on her face.

Joan claimed she'd had as many as 739 cosmetic procedures, saying: 'I've had so much plastic surgery, when I die they will donate my body to tupperware.'

She died in 2014, following a complication while she was receiving an endoscopy at a center in Manhattan.

The New York City Department of Health opened an investigation into the clinic following her death, which happened after doctors hit her vocal cords and she stopped breathing.

Kenny Rogers

First on the list for the surgeons was the late Kenny Rogers, a country music legend who famously performed 'Islands in the Stream' with Dolly Parton.

He appeared with a drastically different look in the late 1990s, with skin bunched tightly around the eyes and pulled across the face — just like Biden, according to Dr Mohan.

'The skin is overpulled,' said Dr Mohan, 'making his appearance look kind of surgical'.

'There's bunching of skin around the eyelids too, similar to Biden.' 

Dr Gary Motykie, who runs a celebrity-favorite clinic in Hollywood agreed, telling DailyMail.com: 'You can see his sideburns are gone, like in Biden, and the brow is also pulled back a bit.

'In a male, when those are missing or shifted, it just looks a bit off. His face just goes into his ears and there's nothing to break it up.'

In a traditional facelift, or rhytidectomy, surgeons make an incision along the ears and hairline at the side of the face and then lift skin to pull it tight and eliminate wrinkles.

They also tighten the underlying layer — known as the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SAMS) — and may remove fat cells.

This approach was not tailored for patients, however, with each receiving the same facelift and having the same amount of skin removed — which left many looking altered or with a different appearance.

In the modern approach, however, surgeons aim to tailor the facelift for each patient — removing less skin and working to maintain a natural appearance. They also now use fat grafting as another method to smoothe out wrinkles.

Before his death in March 2020, Kenny revealed that he regretted the surgery — which Dolly Parton used to tease him about.

He said previously: 'I regret the results of the eye job but, quite honestly, I don't know what I'd look like if I hadn't done it and it may have been way worse.

'I actually had written a whole segment on it [for my book], and publishers said: "Let's not do that , that's all people willtalk about".'

He added: 'It was a phase I went through. I improved myself. I didn't like the way he did my eyes, but I see all these other guys who have had it done and their's are worse than mine.'

Mickey Rourke

One of the more obvious names on the list was Mickey Rourke. Surgeons also pointed to a bit of skin bunching around his eyelids and the fact he has lost definition following surgery

Dr Mohan said: 'He has a little bit of bunching in the lower eyelids after surgery, like Joe Biden.

'The skin is also tight along the jawline due to a facelift. You wouldn't see this normally.'

He added: 'His face also generally appears more feminine. He's lost a lot of definition by pulling the hairline back, the sideburns are absent and the ear lobes have been stretched.'

This was reminiscent of a one-size-fits-all approach, they said, because the feminization of his face suggested they had not tailored the surgery to the patient.

At the time, they added that surgeons were more used to doing facelifts on women than men — which often led to this outcome.

Dr Motykie added: 'He just looks distorted, you immediately pick up his features are out of balance and something is off.' 

The surgeons said that Mickey had also received fillers which had generated an unnatural appearance. Surgeons also say Biden has also received fillers.

'The filler is very un-natural,' said Dr Motykie. 'His face looks too full, like too much filler.'

Mickey, now 71, revealed in 2009 that he had had a botched facelift a few years ago, saying: 'Most of it was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing.

'But', he added, 'I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together'.

Other surgeries Mickey has had include surgery on his nose five times and on his cheekbones, which were broken following boxing.

Donatella Versace

Donatella has had shifting facial features since at least the late 1990s, according to reports.

Surgeons suggested she has had both a facelift, browlift and recieved fillers, with a DailyMail article from 2014 describing her as turning 'into a human waxwork'.

Dr Mohan said of the 68-year-old: 'She has a thing that is similar to Biden in that with a lot of these celebrities the issue is the skin is pulled too tight.

'What has happened is when surgeons operated, they were overthinking the wrinkles and trying to smoothe everything, which led them to pull the skin too tight

'In these areas of the face, the cheek, the jawline, the result is it looks peculiar.

'Donatella is the classic example of that.'

He added: 'You can see it most in her smiles, and the lip too in that it is pulled too much so her smiles and mouth look weird.'

They said this was similar to the cookie-cutter approach, they said, because too much skin has been removed causing her skin to be taught. This has also changed her appearance to move away from her natural features.

Donatella has also received filler, the surgeons claimed, but again too much filler to eradicate wrinkles which has given her face a more poofy appearance.

'This is also a cookie-cutter concept,' he said, 'in a way of lets fill up the lines and make the skin as tight as possible.'

Donatella has not previously admitted to receiving plastic surgery.

Goldie Hawn

Goldie Hawn had also received a facelift similar to that on Joe Biden, the experts claimed

Like Biden, plastic surgeons suggested that actress Goldie Hawn had also had a facelift.

Dr Motykie said: 'Goldie Hawn, her work, it was overdone.

'She has the skin pulled too much [likely due to a facelift], and it is distorting her face.

'Her earlobes too,' he added, 'they look more similar to those on Joe Biden'.

Taught skin is reminiscent of a cookie-cutter facelift, surgeons suggest, because it suggests the surgeon has carried out a one-size-fits-all approach that can leave people with a more unnatural look.

The surgeons also suggested that Goldie had used filler to further help to obscure wrinkles.

Goldie has previously denied she received any plastic surgery, including a face lift.

She was snapped in New York City last year appearing 'almost unrecognizable' as she made a duck face and clasped a purple smoothie.

John Travolta

Among those to have also had a 'deep plane' facelift was John Travolta, according to Atlanta-based plastic surgeon Dr Nicholas Jones.

'His skin looks a lot tighter than before,' Dr Jones said, 'and there is a scar in front of his eat, a tell-tale sign of a facelift'.

'With Biden, too, there is a scar present in front of the ears, another sign of facelift, and possibly a deep plane facelift.'

He added: 'John Travolta, if you look at his sideburns these also have a perfect edge, and that would be very unusual normally.

'He has really maintainted his youthfulness too for one.

'He also looked really old at one point, but then his skin looked a lot tighter.' 

Travolta — who famously starred in 1978 movie Greased Lightning — has never admitted openly to plastic surgery.

But rumors started to circulate in the early 2010s when the actor appeared with a very different look. 

In the 2020s, however, he appears to have embraced aging — and now regularly appears on sets without any hair.
