Tiger Woods is an 'alien' playing 'unbelievable' golf at Augusta National, one of his rivals at The Masters claimed on Friday.

Woods set a new record by making the cut at the iconic tournament for the 24th consecutive time, grinding out a one-over-par score through the first 36 holes alongside Max Homa and Jason Day.

That was despite the 48-year-old having to play a total of 23 holes on Friday after his first round was delayed because of inclement weather at Augusta National early on Thursday morning.

Woods has also not played 36 competitive holes this year and injuries have forced him to make huge adjustments to his game to stay competitive.

But, despite all of that, Woods is through to the weekend once again at The Masters.

Amateur Stewart Hagestad, who missed the cut and will not be competing this weekend, heaped praise on Woods.

He said: 'These are the best players in the world.

'Just look at what Tiger is doing right now. The guy has barely played at all in the last calendar year, and he's 1-over.

'That's alien stuff. That's unbelievable.'

Woods rolled in a bogey at the last to end his first round, then was faced with a rapid return to the first tee with less than 45 minutes before the start of the second round.

He flashed some late-morning brilliance with three birdies - highlighted by a chip-in from the fringe on No. 6 - on the front nine but also showed some rust with three bogeys. Woods then bogeyed the 14th but birdied the 15th to remain at one-over.

'I've been lucky enough to have been able to play this event for all these years. And I did miss a cut when I was an amateur. As a pro, I've done well. It's just an amazing aura that this place has.

'I'm tired. I've been out for a while, competing, grinding. It's been a long 23 holes, a long day.'
