Sen. Marco Rubio accuses Biden of trying to appeal to 'anti-semites' by 'leaking' details of his call with Netanyahu where president told Israel the U.S. will NOT assist in counter attacks against Iran

Sen. Marco Rubio accused the Biden administration of leaking the president's call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a way of appealing to anti-Semitic supporters.

An Axios report Saturday night details that Joe Biden told Netanyahu in their call that the U.S. would not participate in counter strikes against Iran.

Rubio claims that this aspect of the call was intentionally leaked by the White House as a pander to 'anti-semites, anti-Israel, pro terrorist elements' of the Democratic Party.

'They know that Israel's going to respond – they know that for a fact' Rubio told CNN State of the Union host Jake Tapper on Sunday. 'So, why would the White House leak it?'

'There's only one reason they leaked that,' the Republican lawmaker added. 'And that is that so when Israel does respond, the White House can say, 'We told them not to do it,' and at least somehow in some way, appease these so-called peace activists.'

The Florida senator said the same people calling for an Israeli 'ceasefire' against Hamas terrorists in Gaza were the ones cheering the barrage of hundreds of missiles targeted at the Jewish state over the weekend from Iran and their proxies in the Middle East.

Biden and his national security and defense team have insisted support for Israel's defense is 'ironclad' but have said U.S. forces will not engage in counter strikes against Iran after Tehran warned it would target American troops in retaliation.

Since Saturday, Iran launched at least 300 missiles, drones and other strikes toward Israel, but most were intercepted and shot down before reaching the target nation's air space.

If Israel does launch a counter attack, President Biden has done all he could to try and distance the U.S. from such a response – including, Rubio claims, leaking his call with Netanyahu.

'These 'ceasefire now' people who were out yesterday cheering the launch of hundreds of rockets and drones and missiles against Israel; people that are out there cheering military attacks of this scale and scope are not peace activists – these are anti-semites, anti-Israel, pro terrorist elements out there,' Rubio claimed.

'And we need to stop calling them peace activists,' he continued. 'They are not peace activists. You don't — peace activists do not cheer massive attacks against other countries, which is what they were doing yesterday.'

'So, I guess this is part of the White House's effort to appease them by putting this out that proactively.'
