Hoda Kotb has candidly revealed the peaceful morning routine that keeps her body and mind 'in check.' 

The Today host, 59, discussed her daily regime with bestselling author Chip Conley, 63, during a recent episode of her podcast titled Making Space.

She shared how she ensures she gets her day off to a good start - despite having to wake up in the early hours each morning.

Mom-of-two Hoda explained how she intentionally gets up an hour earlier than necessary in order to invest in her wellbeing.

Hoda explained that she uses the additional 60 minutes each morning to plan some peace into her routine.

'I do 20 minutes of meditation, and I do some writing in my journal. And I do (a spirit) check. Like, "What does my spirit need today? What does my body need today?"'

But she explained that every day is different and that she has to take time to understand her needs each morning.

'Sometimes I need a manicure. Sometimes I need to walk in nature. Sometimes I need a break. Sometimes I need a hot bath. I'll write down whatever (I need) in that moment,' Hoda dished.

The presenter, who usually appears on screens alongside co-host Jenna Bush Hager, said she will write down reminders of 'specifics' and 'very easy things' that she needs in the moment.

Elaborating yet further, she explained: 'I don't check my phone or the news of the day or who won what - even sports - nothing until I'm done. 

'Because I just feel like, you can open a gateway and the world comes rushing. 

'It's like, "I'm not ready yet. I need a minute."'

The TV star posted a video teaser of the podcast episode to her 2.4 million followers on Instagram.

She added a caption: 'For the latest episode of my podcast Making Space, I sat down with bestselling author and co-founder of the Modern Elder Academy, Chip Conley. 

'We talked about how to navigate midlife with a renewed sense of purpose and possibility. 

'I left this conversation feeling uplifted and inspired, and I hope you will too.'

This isn't the first time that Hoda has revealed her calming morning routine before work.

She previously shared more of her routine with Katie Couric Media and said: 'I have two alarms set on my phone. One goes off at 3am and one goes off at 3.15am. 

'I'm one of those people who pops up. I don't usually linger too much. I just hop in the shower.

'I light a candle. I put on some cool music. I drink one bottle of water straight down, and I sit down at our kitchen table with a journal.

'I don't care if I happen to be running late or if I have all the time in the world, I try to do this one thing no matter what. 

'In the journal, I'll write the three things I'm grateful for, just right there in that moment.

'It's almost like a level set. I grab a cup of coffee and the car comes around 4:15 a.m.'

As for her night routine, she begins decompressing at home around 7pm.   

She shared with Oprah Daily: 'I try not to scroll Twitter at the end of the day to see what's trending, in case there's a news item for tomorrow. 

'I try to stay away from anything negative. There's only so much a human can ingest before you feel that despair, so I always keep a quote book next to my bed.

'I'll read a quote, and it just sits with you. I think the most important parts of the day are how you start it and how you end it, so I try to end it gently.'
