Caitlin Clark becomes the first ever WNBA or NBA star to wear Prada for the Draft... as she arrives in $17,000 all-white ensemble ahead of being picked No. 1 overall by Indiana Fever

Iowa women's basketball star Caitlin Clark stepped out for the WNBA Draft wearing a special ensemble.

Clark was wearing Prada from head to toe - becoming the first WNBA or NBA player to be dressed by the fashion house for the draft.

The sporting sensation donned a chic ensemble that is worth a staggering $17,000 and featured a $3,750 silver rhinestone-encrusted mesh crop top, which she wore under a $5,500 boxy satin shirt. 

Clark added a matching $1,750 satin mini skirt, before finishing the look off with $1,200 slingback pumps, a $4,100 patent leather handbag, and a $575 pair of orange-tinted sunglasses - possibly an homage to the colors of the WNBA logo.

In total, the outfit is priced at a whopping $16,875 - which is around 22 per cent of the estimated $76,535 salary she is expected to earn in her first year in the WNBA, according to Sportrac.

The outlet reports that Clark's four-year rookie contract is worth a total of $338,056, with her annual salary steadily increasing over that time. 

Still, while many earning that amount might not consider Prada within their budgets, the newly-minted WNBA player insists that the outfit was very much aligned with her personal aesthetic.  

'I love Prada. I think Prada is very me,' Clark told GQ while walking the red carpet. 'Prada's never dressed a WNBA player or an NBA player for the draft, so it's very fun.'

Earlier in the day, Clark was one of many WNBA Draft hopefuls that were pictured atop the Empire State Building.

The night of the draft, Clark was selected first overall by the Fever in a highly anticipated selection.

It drew tens of thousands of people to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to watch the team draft Clark.

Clark, who led Iowa to consecutive national title game appearances, will stay in the Midwest and will hope to help turn around a struggling Indiana franchise that hasn't been in the playoffs since 2016.

Now, one of the greatest to ever grace a college basketball court is off to the pro ranks where she'll team up with last year's No. 1 overall pick - Aliyah Boston.

Clark left Iowa owning the record for the most points ever scored by a man or a woman in college basketball history.

But she was never able to taste the success of a championship in college - falling to LSU in the 2023 title game and South Carolina in the 2024 title game.

Clark celebrated at the draft in Brooklyn and walked up to the stage where she was greeted by WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert with a hug and a Fever jersey.

After Clark was taken first overall, picks two and three were Stanford's Cameron Brink to the Los Angeles Sparks and Kamilla Cardoso of South Carolina to the Chicago Sky. Following the top three, Tennessee's Rickea Jackson was taken fourth overall by the Sparks again and Jacy Sheldon of Ohio State was taken fifth overall by the Dallas Wings.

Angel Reese, the star from LSU known as the 'Bayou Barbie', was selected seventh overall and was picked by the Chicago Sky.

According to Spotrac, Clark's rookie contract will be worth $338,056 paid out over the course of four years - with a fourth-year option.
