Campaign fast food fight! Biden picks up sandwiches for construction workers days after Trump bought Chick-fil-A for whole restaurant

President Joe Biden attempted to rip a page out of his predecessor and 2024 opponent Donald Trump's playbook by ordering fast food for construction workers Wednesday.

Trump made a surprise visit to a Chick-fil-A in Atlanta on April 10, where he told a dozen of employees behind the counter: 'We're going to take care of the customers.'

He ordered 30 milkshakes and chicken for the excited people in the store, as well as for his staff.

Biden attempted to make a similar moment when he entered a Sheetz in Moon Township, Pennsylvania in the Pittsburgh area Wednesday.

Sheetz is a chain of convenience stores and coffee shops that sells fast food and sandwiches across several states, though it is famously beloved in western Pennsylvania.

Perhaps that's why Democrat Senator John Fetterman - a notorious Sheetz booster over its Philadelphia-based rival Wawa - posted excitedly to X Wednesday: 'Joe Biden just won another term.'

However, the crowd inside the establishment seemed a little less enthusiastic for the president than both Fetterman and the excited crowd that greeted Trump at Chick-fil-A.

The crowd and employees smiled politely at Biden, dressed in his famous aviator sunglasses, as Biden went behind the counter to take photos with a cashier.

However, it was more formal than Trump, who worked the room speaking to supporters, shaking hands, giving autographs and even hugging a woman.

Biden made an order of sandwiches, fruit and other ready-to-eat items alongside Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey and Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato.

'Everyone loves a good Sheetz Run, even the President of the United States,' a spokesperson for Sheetz said in a statement.

The president dropped the sandwiches off at the construction site for Pittsburgh International Airport's new terminal, where he shook hands and passed out food.

In his visit last Wednesday, Trump made sure there were enough milkshakes for everyone from the Atlanta Chick-fil-A, even telling a worker that if they 'run low' as they were handed out to customers, he would pay for more.

He was in Georgia as part of his campaign trail and answered questions to journalists in the Chick-fil-A restaurant.

'So is this good? Making a lot of money? Get rich, right? Excellent,' he said as he joked with the workers.

A woman appeared overjoyed as she hugged Trump, shouting to the crowd: 'Tell my mama I made it,' which earned her a laugh by Trump.

He went on to hug another supporter after signing his hat and shaking his hands with him as he praised the man's show and took a picture with him.

Both Biden and Georgia are courting voters in swing states like Georgia and Pennsylvania - which Biden flipped from red to blue in 2020 - ahead of November's election.

Biden suggested to cheering, unionized steelworkers on Wednesday that his administration would thwart the acquisition of U.S. Steel by a Japanese company, and he called for a tripling of tariffs on Chinese steel, seeking to use trade policy to win over working-class votes.

During a visit to the Pittsburgh headquarters of United Steelworkers, Biden said U.S. Steel 'has been an iconic American company for more than a century and it should remain totally American.'

Biden is on a three-day Pennsylvania swing that began in his childhood hometown of Scranton on Tuesday and will include a visit to Philadelphia on Thursday.
